“Appalling - breach of contract and lack of trust”

Written on: 29/06/2012 by Nancygolightly (2 reviews written)

My mother ordered a Christmas hamper for us on the 9th of December, with delivery due on 23rd December...we're still waiting 6 months on. In the words of Oscar Wilde, (to a greater or lesser degree) "To lose one [hamper], may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose both looks like carelessness". Apt in this instance, as this is the 2nd year in a row that M&S have been careless. The previous year too, they were unable to fulfil their contract to provide a hamper. It beggars belief that M&S have deducted payment and not provided the goods.

I'm shocked that a company such as M&S can be so flippant about this, refusing to address themselves to the issues, when my sister tried to speak to them. They used the spurious reason of 'security' in their lack of effort to deal with the non-delivery, and have continued to obfuscate our enquiries. Its too easy and almost disrespectful to refund the money to the card. What is the point of a shop if not to provide goods/services? The hampers were bought in good faith and the shop has entered into a contract to provide these goods. They are therefore in breach of contract.
