The One That Got Away is Chris Ryan's personal account of his escape from Iraq to Syria after a botched SAS mission to locate SCUDs during the first Gulf War. Ryan's ordeal lasted ten days, he walked over two hundred miles and it remains the longest escape and evasion in SAS history. Item: Chris Ryan, Ultimate Weapon
Having first hand experience in Iraq is something that really sets Ryan apart from others in this field. The reader gets a true sense of what life was like in the country shortly before and during the war, and don't be surprised at feeling real tension whilst reading about some of Nick and Jed's experiences. Furthermore, all the military essentials (and non essentials) are there for the more gun-ho reader.
