Since Nestle took over Rowntree I have noticed a distinct difference with taste. The chocolate is now more like the bitter and stronger european chocolate, even more so in Kit Kat. I really hope Kraft do not do the same to cadburys.

These are nice. I remember growing up and eating juicy, colorful, chocolate candies. I love smarties and I recommend it to all the young kids out there and their parents too. When you open the tube it has a fresh smelling scent of pure chocolate.

I always have a tube of smarties on my person and I am always so happy when I walk into a shop and see the smarties on the shelf. It is all I can do to contain myself from buying the whole shelf.

As a 26 year old Nestle Smartie veteran, I find it somewhat disconcerting that I am still unable to identify whether the different colours are flavoured differently. I am quite sure that the orange ones are and possibly even the brown, which have the flavour of a brown dolly mixture. I have registered already my dislike of the new packaging (see above), but I understand that I am a traditionalist and shall leave judgement for the new breed of Smarties consumers - the children. To that end, I would like to say 'well done Nestle and continue the good work'.

I too am slightly confused about the flavours in Smarties, but I'm pretty sure that they're all the same, apart from the orange ones - which taste of orange...

My girlfriend wooed me when she came back from Australia with a bottle of chablis and a tube of smarties. They are the perfect chocolate companion to pricy wine and much fun can be had by (when finished) squashing the tube and seeing the lid (entertainment itself in guessing what the letter is on it) fly off in a random direction.

I can't believe Nestle have taken out the blue smartie! Everyone I know, including me, love it! It may have been bad for you, but what isn't now? I say BRING BACK BLUE!

I don't think I would mind the change of the Nestle Smarties tube too much if it wasn't for one thing - the lid. I have collected these for years and have a large collection, and now the orange lids we all know and love are coming to a very tragic end, I won't be able to complete my alphabet collection! Even though we can all buy the entire collection on Ebay, is it not more special to say that we ate thousands of these little colourful creations? Smarties are a part of our culture, and by changing the packaging now, the smarties eaten per minute (currently 17000!) will decrease suddenly. Rest in Peace traditional smarties packaging.

I suspect that Didley Squat is very young, not English or both. Not buying Smarties in a tube that isn't a cylinder is a fundamental point of principle. That humble tube was a national treasure! not to be recklessly interfered with by the Swiss. Fortunately, real sweet shops still sell Smarties loose from a jar so the point of principle is, technically, unbroken.
Points of principle are very important. I used to enjoy Marathon bars but, since the men from Mars re-named them "Snickers", have ceased to buy them.

Let me get this straight. You LOVE smarties. They change the package and you will never buy them again? The taste of the product will not change. By this logic you should be buying the tubes on ebay. I don't stop eating something I love because the packaging changes, I'm not eating the package :-s
