4 stars for the survey report. Booking service which was very poor. We specifically instructed the lender that we wanted a Building Survey or a Homebuyers Report to be carried out at the same time as the standard valuation. I gave 2 preferred contact numbers so that the surveyor could contact me to book. However, the surveyor called on a different number and left a message one day before the standard survey was booked in for and then went ahead with the survey anyway when we didn't respond. When I contacted the surveyor to find out what was happening they then said the survey had gone ahead and it would cost me an extra £830 for a Homebuyers and £1,500 for a Building Survey (in addition to the normal rates!) because they would have to go out again. I complained to the lender (Nationwide)who were very good and confirmed that the correct numbers had been sent to the surveyor. The surveyor then called me and offered to do the Building Survey for £730 instead of £1,500 because of the misunderstanding. However, the surveyor's administrator still tried to claim that they had tried the 2 preferred contact numbers (I know this to be false because my work number and mobile both log received calls and have voicemail facilities).
The Survey itself was fine which is why I am giving 2 stars overall.
