My 2 friends & I went for lunch at Battle Axes in Elstree Hertfordshire today. Having gone there on my recommendation, I was gutted and embarrassed with the experience! Being father's day I can understand that anywhere can be rushed of their feet. But we got there at 3pm well after the busy period. A number of the staff were just walking around suggesting a quiet time. When we went to the bar to order at the buy we were served by a new starter who had worked in a pub before. He was struggling to take our order, which I can sympathise with but he had to ask the duty manager on everything we ordered on which key he touches on the screen. There was no one else ordering at the bar so the duty manager could have spent time so he would take the order correctly. But instead she carried on tidying the bottles and just rolled her eyes at the bar tender and sighed showing her disapproval. My friends corona tasted a bit off so she went back to the bar. But was told rather rudely by the duty manager that they had sold hundreds of corona bottles and no one has complained before and just went back to tidying up and ignored us. Oh! and order did not come quite right but that was only minor. Like onions when we told the Barman three times that we didn't want onions, mushy peas with fish & chips when I had requested I did not want on my plate wrong ice-cream with the pudding. All of which he had assured was in the order. But it was not a major issue.

20 minutes after we finished lunch, our table (in the beer garden) was not cleared. I went back inside to see someone can clear. A nice waitress smiled and said "sure", and, let me stress that she was doing nothing at the time, but did not turn up at all! 20 minutes later our desserts arrives and we had three lovely servers who cleared our table.

Had a stressful Sunday at the Battle Axes!

Never recommend the place again!
