We went to Walmer as part of a Sunday trip to Deal & Walmer. They are both built in a similar style (same period that's why) - that is a flower pattern.

The problem with Walmer is that it was converted into a statley home but most of it is not for show. The part that is for show is nothing special.

The gardens however are very nice, and the views of the castle from the gardens are great.

I'd only recommend Walmer as part of a combined trip to Deal, and even then only if you really like castles because at 8 pounds, it's not cheap.
