Used this pruduct earlier, followed instuctions correctly. hoovered 3 times carpet no cleaner, just now it has lots of white blotches that wont come off. I called the vainsh help line to complain and tey are sending me out a refund. I recommended they should change the tv ad as is is false advertisement (read more)

I too believed the adverts.......should not have done. I had to go over the carpet four times to get all the powder up and the carpet does not look any cleaner. Then I realised my cleaner was red hot, the main filter was completely blocked with the powder and the other filter was so hot it almost burnt me when I touched it. I have a cream carpet and have to keep hiring a carpet cleaner, but when I saw this on special offer I thought I would try it. First I didn't brush in the powder properly on a small area and it didn't work, but when I had another go on the whole carpet and brushed it in properly and left it to dry, it removed many stains when I vacuumed. If i could give a zero rating i would have done so! Nothing to show after spending over 2 hours and following the instructions exactly apart from a very white and dusty dyson cyclon. Saw the ad on tv and as it was a vanish product I believed it would work. I do use vanish and disappointed was an under statement. What a waste of time and money. My carpets are about 4 years old and a light colour, wanted to freshen up the traffic areas, just a bit grubby from foot traffic, and a few marks, made no difference at all! I tried this item today on two carpets upstairs after following the instructions to the letter. One was a cream carpet with old spot stains. After 25 minutes, I hoovered the carpets again. Thought I'd give this a try on our cream carpets, as we've got a few dark patches. Applied as per instructions but managed to get some on my knees while down scrubbing it in. I now have quite severe chemical burns! It says NOTHING on the packaging about using gloves etc, so I assumed this product was pretty harmless.. It isn't!! I will never use it again. Left powder on for longer than 20 minutes. Wasn't too hard to hoover up. But after that, the filter, and I guess something else in the hoover were clogged up. For good. Tried cleaning the filter, to no avail. Carpets vaguely cleaner. Avoid this product! (read more)

To use this powder, you Hoover your carpet once. Apply powder. Scrub with brush. Wait 20 mins. Hoover again. and then stare at your lovely... Oh wait its totally the same, carpet. I even took photos to compare the first hoover to the second, and it was EXACTLY the same. Save yourself the time, money and effort and just hoover once. The smell doesnt even stay for a while. Will be buying £1 carpet vac as that at least smells fresh for a few days. (read more)

I have light cream carpets on my stairs and in all our upstairs rooms which as you can imagine are a nightmare to maintain. Over the years I have been conned by tv adverts to buy vanish products they all claim to remove stains and so far none of them have ever worked. This one is NO exception the only thing it has done for me in give me hours of extra hoovering trying to remove it from my carpet and more work cleaning the filters in my Hoover. I'd already bought the product before reading the reviews on here but went ahead and tried it anyway. The carpets in our flat weren't cleaned before we moved in and they're pretty old as well, but I gave this powder a go on an area of the living room carpet (cream coloured) and it came up pretty good. I left it on for about an hour and scrubbed it in thoroughly. I know it says 20 mins but I can't see how that's enough time to work. I wasn't expecting it to bring the carpets up like new... I used it on my stair carpet. I followed the instructions and having sprinkled it down,and brushed it in waited 20 minutes before vacuuming it up. Within 2 minutes the filters on my cyclone had all become clogged which required removing. This continued until the powder had all been collected. There was also powder dust on window sills which required cleaning. The whole process took over two hours and all the filters on my vacuum had to be washed. A nightmare (read more)

I have a sitting room carpet that is only 2 years old. Even though we don't wear shoes in this area there is still a slightly darker walk through path going through the sitting room. I also have an elderly westie dog, who insists on rubbing her face into the carpet so therefore I get darker areas from the oils of her hair. It did a reasonable job on cleaning or lightly soiled stair carpet. However,it completely clogged up the vacuum cleaner that then overheated repeatedly and necessitated time consuming dismantling and clean up operation. I have been looking at caeprt cleaners for a few months. Based on reviews, I wasn't too sure I could find a good product at a decent price, since I didn't want to break the bank. I found this item at Target, and based on my experience with Bissell vacuums, decided to give it a chance. It assembled pretty easily, and seems pretty solid. It did a very nice job on lifting dirt from an alabaster caeprt and darker entry caeprt, neither of which had been cleaned in nearly two years. I found the upholstery tool to work very well on higher traffic areas that didn't respond well to the pushing the machine over it. Overall, I am quite happy with this item.

So true! Just cleaned two rugs and a small spot on the carpet with this stuff - wish I hadn't bothered. The house reeks of chemicals, there is a fine layer of white powder over EVERYTHING, the dirt is still there and it took me an hour to clean the hoover. USELESS

Bought yesterday to use on my rug. Have used it twice already with NO results, even leaving it for alot longer on the second usage ! Its very very messy and gets everwhere even if your ver careful. Purchased this product and a new indoor brush and looked forward to seeing the results. I distributed the powder generously onto carpet which is only mildly soiled. Brushed it in. Waited the 20 minutes as instructed and vaccumed away. No difference in carpet whatosever and it has taken me over an hour to clean all the white dust out of the vaccum cleaner. first of all I have a cream coloured carpet and I have a dyson vacuum (I used the brush head which helped to hoover it up a little better than the normal attachment) I followed instructions step by step and of course it's never as easy as it says in the advert but I feel like I've done a lot of back breaking scrubbing for a half clean carpet. I don't think all the hard work is worth the results! I took a before and after photo (yes I'm a geek!) and there wasn't much difference! and i did the bit near the door twice! it does look better I admit but not as clean as they made out it was going to be!

I got up in the middle of the night because I was so fed-up with soiled carpets. I shook and sprinkled and scrubbed and left and hoovered and was AMAZED at the difference the Vanish large area carpet cleaner had made! Carpets, thought were too dirty ever to come clean, began to look almost new. I didn't regret losing sleep when I looked next morning! Hope you managed to clean up your Dyson. It took me two days to clean mine and it still is dusty inside (not to mention the fine dust all over the TV, stereo, my leather furniture and oak floor !!!)
