“Really really disappointed. Don't touch this place.”

Written on: 11/06/2013

We bought an old caravan (1989) from Glossop a few years ago to see if we liked touring. They treated us with the same courtesy during and after the sale as if we had purchased a really expensive van, to the point of collecting it from us to take it back and deal with an issue we found in our first trip away. Last winter we decided to upgrade to a newer van and should have gone back there. However there was a dealer much closer to home, so we thought we'd give them a go. That was... (read more)

“REFUSED TO GIVE BACK DEPOSIT”

Written on: 29/05/2013 by ddeveritt (2 reviews written)

We recently left a 500.00 deposit with these people and within 7 days was made redundant. We dont have a crystal ball and had no idea this was to happen we asked then for our deposit back or even some of it they refused. We also asked them if we could spend it in the shop as that is part of their company ,they also refused to do that. we was going to purchase something and sell it to get some of our money back. They had zero empathy for us and indeed were quite rude. They offered us 500.00... (read more)

I sympathise with you - you are not the first person to be treated badly by 'Wandahome', and I suspect that you won't be the last.

Having previously purchased from this company, I can say with complete honesty that I will raise a glass to toast their demise on the day they enter receivership. (actually, I think there will quite a lot of other people also chinking their glasses...)

If we all put our deposits together we would be able to buy a few nice motorhomes between us. Or maybe put it to a much needed empathy or customer relations intense training course for the staff and the people who need it most the management. It wouldnt be so bad if the money was used for a charity that needed it, but there is more chance of flying to the moon than that happening.

We went to the last Caravan Show at the NEC and bought two brand new caravans. We are not short of money. We live in Stoke on Trent and have a Swift Touring Caravan dealer in Stoke who we have dealt with very satisfactorily in the past. “Annual caravan service”

Unusually we left it late to book in for the 3rd annual service of our caravan, bought new from Wandahome South Cave. We were welcomed very efficiently by Teresa at service reception with the service booked before the end of what would be the end of the warranty period for some of the fittings and equipment. The work was completed to our complete satisfaction and we have always felt that our custom is valued, which, from comments of some of our friends regarding some other dealers, may not... “Wandahome - Questionable business morals”

Written on: 23/03/2013 by Freewheel (1 review written)

My wife and I went to look at a caravan at Wandahome and we were also met by a pushy salesman. We looked over a number of vans and identified one that we liked. We then went with the salesman to sit down and discuss figures. We agreed with him that we wanted a Motor Mover, Tyre Band Systen and Superguard all of which we were told came to approx £1,500. SHE had no empathy and wouldnt give us anything back we are so worried about the future and 500.00 is an awful lot of money to loose i am absoloutly devastated we have lost this money. They wouldnt let us use the money in the shop either we could have bought something and then sold it to get something back. SHE wasnt helpful at all.

I recently wrote to Watchdog who seemed very interested in Wandahome, perhaps we should pool our resources and see what can be done about them. There is no doubt that they are flouting the law and in my case, according to the Trading Standards, they have committed a criminal breach of contract through misrepresentation. I settled for £500.00 of my deposit back but only because I had the offer of a really good deal on a Swift Conqueror and wanted to get moving on it. It pains me greatly that I didn't take Wandahome to court because I was reasonably sure I would have won the case and had solicitors, who I have had dealings with for many years encouraging me to do so. I think Wandahome represent the very worst form of customer contempt and I strongly believe that this is because the majority of caravan buyers/owners are in elderly using their tax free lump sums to buy into a dream hoping to ha ve a few adventures in the twilight of their lives. They have no way in wish to replenish their money once its gone and I honestly believe for companies like Wandahome this sector of society represents an easy prey. They are people who have usually finished work and wanting to put the stress of earning a living behind them, the last thing they want is a fight with the likes of Wandahome and so as I say they are easy prey and a company like Wandahome can get away with such criminal acts as I appear to have been subjected to and seemingly many others.

I have no problem with that maybe publicize them a bit further through media, local paper etc. And i certainly would have no problem with us all getting together to do something about them. That is exactly what i discussed with my husband, they no they are more likely to get away with it with retired people.

I will put some thought into it and contact you in due course on here. There is another site that I have commented on and one which is much more popular so I will see if I can drum up some support to take some sort of action against them. It has not escaped me that if some of their activities are criminal it may be possible to bring about prosecution via Trading Standards. I will keep you posted as they say.

Yes I agree £2000 is a larger deposit than other caravan dealers take. Also the terms and conditions are not highlighted or even mentioned at time of sale. I am very ill and having treatment at present. I have tried to cancel our caravan order as we are not going to be able to use it for sometime,if at all. Wanderhomes have refused to return my deposit. Whilst I could understand them keeping some of it perhaps a few hundred to cover their administration costs I do feel they have been unsympathetic to my situation. Before my illness I was in business and I would of felt guilty keeping such a large amount of someone else's money. Whilst they can proberly do this legally, I do question their morals and goodwill. However I have decided not to cancel as I am not prepared to give this company £2000 of my hard earned cash for nothing. I would rather let my son,s benefit from it. Fingers crossed the caravan has no problems, as I believe this company is fine whilst they are getting your money, but don,t want to help when you have unforeseen circumstances. Mrs west

They have kept my deposit of 500.00 which i cannot afford to loose however, after reading how many deposits they have got for nothing they will be able to put it towards their court cost.
