"Don't trust them"

We purchased a caravan at the NEC and put ours as part exchange, told them it had a dent and paint had come off where an awning pole rubbed, the guy said it would be fine. When we got to wandahome to collect the new van they said our van had major damage and would cost £1300 to repair.
We bought the van second hand with the damage and didn't think it was a problem, when we said we would not have the new van we were told we couldn't have our £2000 deposit back as we had entered a contract and that was it, we could write to them requesting our money back but they were under no obligation to return it.
They said we never told them about the dent but we did and the salesman hadn't put it on the form, which we were then told we should have checked it, if we thought it was going to be a problem we would have e- mailed them pictures and took appropriate action before travelling from Hampshire to Hull as they knew we wouldn't want to have gone all that way for nothing.
In the end we had to pay another £500 or risk losing our deposit which was money we hadn't intended on spending on a van if we knew the situation we were going to be put in we would have never even considered buying the van, and I am going to find out if what they did to us was legal.I have since investigated this cancelling of a contract and apparently you can invoke your right to a seven day cooling of period if you purchased away from the dealers premises even if the deal is concluded at a later date so I don't think Wandahome have a right to refuse your deposit refund so it's worth thinking about and getting further advice if you get caught in their trap!!!!!
So all I can say is be very weary of buying a van from Wandahome we certainly wouldn't do it again
