“Avoid!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AshAkeroyd on 03/03/2015

I am really disappointed with the service received from the car people, was promised everything and was amazed with the customer service up until I picked up the car and then it went wrong as everything which was promised failed to materialise.

When I went to see the car when i purchased it the car was still in the workshop and had therefore still had work to be completed on it. One of the things to be completed were the alloys, which I was told all the scuffs and marks would be repaired and they would look like new which I thought was fantastic. When I went to pick up the car this work had not been carried out on some of the wheels. When I asked why they said it was not possible to repair the scuffs on the middle of the wheels as they are diamond cut and haven't got the tools to do so. If this is the case then I shouldn't have been promised that they would have been when I purchased the wheels. They have repaired some of the middle bits of other wheels so I believe they can do them but just are trying to get away without having to do it.

They failed to spray a couple of doors as promised by the salesman. I noticed this when I went to pick up the car and they agreed to do the work for free which was great. However this meant that I had to return the car, living in Nottingham this wasn't easy and meant a 3 and a half hour round trip to drop the car off after work one day with another trip the following night to pick the car up. No offer was made to pick the car up from me given that it was their fault the work was not done, nor was any reimbursement made for the costs of the two trips. I did mention this before taking the car up to Sheffield and was promised that they would put plenty of fuel in the courtesy car, however when I got in the fuel was empty (approx 20 miles) so I then had to spend time finding a petrol station and refuelling, just what I wanted in the middle off a 3.5 hour trip after a full day at work. To make things worse, they stuck masking tape to my car to cover parts of the car next to the sections which have been resprayed, when removed marks have been left on the car which I can't polish off, so although the original two marks are now gone I now have two new marks.

The car came with a full service history, however the only service history I have received is at 24,000 miles and 2.5 years even though a service is recommended at 20,000/2years by bmw so I'm now left unsure if my warranty is invalid?

I have felt a bit fobbed off by the pick up team and after sales team. For example when I picked up the car and there were a couple of marks on the doors, before agreeing to do the repairs they tried to talk me out of it by saying we can't just respray one door due to colour differences and therefore would have to respray both doors on one side, therefore advise you not to do it. However since they realised they were wrong and agreed to do the work it has all of a sudden become fine to just spray one door as they can now blend it. Just feel like they tried to talk me round on everything so that they could do the minimum amount of work possible.

Due to the size of the company you never see the same person again so they can promise the world as they haven't got to deal with the issues later down the line. The salesman already has their commission and are not bothered about the issues I am experiencing now.

The marks aren't massive but I have saved four years for the car so expect to receive what was promised. If I knew I would have to return the car at my time and expense I wouldn't have paid what I did for the car.

Won't be using them again and wouldn't recommend the car people
