“The worst car buying experience ever.”

I recently went down to the Northampton Car Shop to view a car that was advertised on their site and on the internet. It took more than an hour for one of their many staff to tell me that the car was not there - I was advised that one of their directors had it and they did not expect him back with the car until the following week. They also advised me after much discussion that they were unsure of the particulars of the car and they thought the mileage on the car was slightly more than was advertised. I agreed to return on the following Monday afternoon to view the car only to have to wait again while they retrieved the car. Upon inspection, the mileage was found to be twice what had been specified on their site and on the internet advertising - I'm sure the "Advertising Standards Authority" would be interested in this. When I discussed this with the Retail Manager at the branch I found him to be extremely unprofessional. He was not concerned at the false advertising of his company or that my wife and I had wasted several hours over two days. He was only interested in providing lame and ridiculous excuses for his company's actions and although he did not have any authority to make any decisions himself he would not allow me access to someone more senior who I perhaps could have had a more sensible conversation with. The day after my heated discussion with the retail manager, the mileage was corrected and although the mileage had doubled, the price of the car remained the same!!! There were many other rather worrying issues related to this incident that I have not reported on here. The whole experience was very unpleasant and one I will not be repeating. I will in the future purchase my cars from more reputable garages.
