“Very good service - WMS Warranty Group”

Written on: 28/08/2014 by Billybod (1 review written)

Can honestly say that the service I received from both the selling dealer and WMS has been out of the top drawer. My vehicle (Fiat 500 Arbarth) developed a fault in the gearbox when selecting 2nd gear. I was advised in the first instance to call WMS. This I did and were told to get the fault diagnosed and get back to them. I took it to my local Fiat specialist and it transpired that the 2nd gear sincro has broken. I am not a technical minded person but as per the diagnose the Fiat dealer… Read Full Review

Must work for WMS, the standard answer that they would come out with, is that, as the car is an abarth model, it has been abused and therefore not covered, wear and tear

“Just don't want to pay out at all... period......”

Written on: 15/08/2014 by rePowell94 (1 review written)

just had a car in with a couple of faults that are listed as covered by WMS warranty, the first fault they refuse to honor as 'it's wear and tear' so i ask what is their definition of failure then as all car parts wear and tear till they fail, no conclusive answer, the second part they wanted to fit a substandard aftermarket repaired item to the car, having dealings with these parts it would no doubt last a week and then their warranty has expired. They are rude on the phone, basically their… Read Full Review

“Air compressor not covered”

Written on: 08/08/2014 by kerrone (2 reviews written)

When we purchased our range rover sport we were advise to also purchase the WMS 5 star warrantee for peace of mind. Over £700 thought it would be an idea :-( . Recently the air compressor fails to pump to the correct pressure, thinking that's ok will be covered the specialist garage where I took for repair told me these warrantee ain't worth the paper they are written on ? I'm ok I thought I've got the 5 star. Guess what NOT COVERED because it's still working,, although no reaching the correct… Read Full Review

We have contacted the above agreement holder to discuss his comments and the repair but to date he has not responded. The 5 Star Agreement specifically excludes wear and tear and is a mechanical breakage agreement. The suspension pump fault code given to us by the repairing garage C1A20-64 CONFIRMS PRESSURE INCREASE TOO SLOWLY WHILE FILLING RESERVOIR.This is caused by the compressor exhaust valve sticking as a result of excessive wear and a weak return spring, causing an internal air leak in the compressor when active. As confirmed by Land Rover in Technical Bulletin No LS-204-004. We have authorised and paid many claims for satisfied customers on these pumps which have suffered a mechanical breakdown under the terms of the policy and do not record the above fault code.

This is a lie, they have not tried to make contact with me ! All my phones have answer machines when not answered. This policy was sold by a representive of their company under fause pretences. I was assured all major components were covered ! I am writing to watchdog, to bring to light the problem with these policies

Kerrone, you should be aware that wms are misleading you here, there is a bulletin out dated 2006 as they say i have a copy of it, nowhere in it does it say that the valve is prone to wear, it says that the spring may be weak, or that the valve is damaged, to add insult to WMS a couple of months later in 2006 a service action was sent to all dealers requesting cars from 2006 of a certain VIN range were to be called in, or on routine service, have this weak spring replaced and a paint blob to be applied to the compressor, so if your car is later than 2006 anyway then the fault you have is due to a defective, failed compressor, so they are welshing out of wanting to pay, and using a Land Rover bulletin as the excuse but not telling you all that was in it to suit themselves

Be wary also that if you replace the original compressor made by Hitachi with the later one made by AMK then you need to have the software in the ride level module updated for it to work properly, another consequential cost that WMS won't pay out on no doubt

“DO NOT PURCHASE!!”

Written on: 07/07/2014 by Lamont377 (1 review written)

i bought a car in Feb this year, it came with a advertised transferable policy that covered the car for over 2 more years. i saw on their website they had an email address so i sent details across of the policy asking for it to be transferred and advising where to send the fee of £25. i heard nothing back and after a few more requests, i finally got an email saying that i had to have the booklet, i advised this did not come with the car and who to contact to transfer the policy. i called up… Read Full Review

Further to your post, The WMS Group transfer 98% of all renewal or transfer applications received, unfortunately not all circumstances allow for a transfer of ownership. The WMS Group clearly specify in policy books that ‘we reserve the right to decline any renewal or transfer without explanation’, this would have been stated in the policy book that should have come with the purchase, which you have indicated in your post that you did not receive with the vehicle at the point of sale.

I would like to clarify that you did not actually purchase a Guarantee or Warranty from the WMS Group.

“Help with roadside breakdown.”

Written on: 03/06/2014 by Camrynf426 (1 review written)

My Jaguar broke down on the road with a suspension problem, I rang the warranty company and told them what had happened and they gave me the name of a local garage to ring. I rang the garage and they came out within half an hour which was very good. They towed the vehicle to their garage and gave me a lift to the local train station. The garage checked the car and rang WMS warranty co. whom I had taken a warranty out with when I bought the car ( thank god) they then got the ok to go ahead with… Read Full Review

AND YES I BET THE GUY WITH THE JAG ABOVE IS A DIRECTOR OF WMS

“I recently bought a car with a 36 month '5 star' WMS...”

Written on: 29/01/2014 by jagmanpete1 (1 review written)

I recently bought a car with a 36 month '5 star' WMS warranty from someone in London. He had bought the car 6 months previously and the so called warranty with it.He showed me the WMS booklet and the part that stated it was transferable with a £50 fee. This made the purchase far more attractive as I thought I would be covered for any faults. The fee had to be paid within 7 days of the purchase which I did by recorded delivery. I got a letter back with my cheque saying that they would not… Read Full Review

“I AM A CAR DEALER AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN”

Written on: 06/12/2013 by hugecarrot (1 review written)

I am a car dealer and up until recently I put WMS warranties on my cars. I will NEVER EVER use them again. I had an engine blow up on a Mercedes. Because their engineers report was inconclusive(they didnt know what caused it) THEY REFUSED TO PAY OUT. I was left with a bill of thousands of pounds after having to buy the car back from the customer becuase WMS took so long to finally say they werent paying up. I replaced the turbo(not covered) the engine(not covered) the radiator(may have given me… Read Full Review

Bought this cover on a 4* policy. 2 months in my garage diagnosed egr valve problem. Spoke to company, gave them the fault and diagnostic details and they authorised the garage to go ahead but when coming to pay they asked for part to be sent to them which we did. They sent a letter back almost immediately saying no fault found on part!! They couldn't have had time to check it and send that letter ! we asked for the part to be returned to us and it was still in the package we sent it to them… Read Full Review

“Not worth the paper its written on”

Written on: 16/04/2013

Paid for a warranty with this lot and cambelt broke. They now say its not covered as a timing gear failed and jammed the belt. Both belt and timing gears are covered under warranty but they are their supposed independent engineer whose name and report they refuse to disclose say its because a bolt broke and they don't cover bolts. Also they say that a timing gear is a timimg pulley and they don't cover these either. Complained to the underwriters of the policy - no reponse but now their claims… Read Full Review
