“wheel bearing”

Written on: 28/03/2015 by LeaMcAllister (1 review written)

my car developed a wheel bearing issue which according to my 4* policy was covered. Phoned the wms warranty to see about how to go about making a claim and how to go about getting my car repaired. They said that the wheel bearing was a wear and tear item ( although it can't be a wear and tear item as they are made to last the life time of the Vehicle or can be damaged causing damage to the casing) anyways they sent me to a local garage in stoke maderville as its there approved garage. Hi, we are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied. Wheel bearings are covered if a component has broken or the bearing has collapsed. Noisy wheel bearings are caused by the case hardening wearing away, which is not covered unless your vehicle qualified for wear & tear cover and this option was added to the agreement at the point of sale.

If you did indeed have a valid claim and there has been an error on our part, we would like to be able get it resolved as quickly as possible for you. Please can you therefore call us asap so that we may assist you.

“AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!!”

Written on: 26/02/2015 by Ozzy1993 (1 review written)

I have 4 cars in the household, 3 of which are on a 3rd party warranty cover. My timing chain had failed on my BMW, terms and conditions state it covered but according to them it doesn't cover it. The garage who did the diagnostic and the garage I bought the car from could not understand why they will not cover. They said wear and tear after sending out an independent engineer, when I compared the snapped chain to the new one they were both identical, there was no stretch and all pins were… Read Full Review

Hi,
In Response to your above statement it would appear that you have a valid claim under your agreement, however the information that we hold shows the purchase of a BMW at 115,000 miles, the failure mileage is 125,000 miles and the photography we received shows a severely worn timing chain which would have made a considerable amount of engine noise.
If the vehicle had been taken to a garage once this noise had accrued the repairs would have been around £800.00, due to the failure to do this a replacement engine will now be required at a cost of around £4,500.00 which is of course an outstanding amount, but unfortunately preventable.
We would like to see for ourselves the timing chain that has no wear on it after 125,000 miles, if this is the case we will re-examine our position.
We understand the term forensic, but have never seen a forensic report and would be pleased to receive this.
In respect of legal action, we have received no correspondence to this effect.
We would request that any or all parts or papers are sent to us ASAP so that we can correct this matter if appropriate.

Kind Regards
The WMS Group.

Engine noise? How do you know it made engine noise, in fact it didn't make any hence if I heard engine rattle I would have sorted it for £800.

You can happily see the timing chain, you know my address, pop down

You can see a forensic report once you reimburse me for it or you can see it in court.

Legal action, you will soon

“AVOID at all cost (important info please read!)”

Please read below, I am now organising a group complaint to the FCA and the financial ombudsman. Send me your details if you want to be included. Im a 911, 997 owner and had claim for failed tandem pump rejected (circa £900) under wear and tear!! Also they have managed to wriggle out of failed metal door membranes(£700)..also under wear and tear. When I complained online to someone, she told me that because my warranty is an "agreement" it doesn't fall under the FCA regulation (although… Read Full Review

Hi,

We have received your file and the information you have been given is correct, the agreement that you have with us is supplied by VGS, which is not regulated by the FCA, we do however have a complaints process that can be forwarded to Motor Codes, if you contact us we can provide you with all their details.

In Response to your two claims, unfortunately door cards are not covered by any warranty provider and no one states otherwise.
As for your tandem pump, this was reported as a slightly corroded item, which on a nine year old vehicle and the mileage it has covered is regarded as normal.
We Understand that you are spending money on your Porsche in order to keep it well maintained, but this is not the purpose of your warranty.
A warranty is there to help cover sudden and unforeseen failures, which luckily you have not suffered.

Please If you would like us to clarify the above or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call.

Kind regards
The WMS Group

Since buying my car six months ago, i have unsuccessfully managed to make a claim for £127.84 for a water housing & sensor; plus £503 for water ingress in the fan unit, which was dried out and new radiator & fan required. Received letter today saying that it doesn't cover parts that have reached the end of their normal working lives because of age or usage; so basically leave your car on the driveway if you want be covered. Hi Terrence, thanks for your review.

We have been trying to get in contact with you through Review Centre but we are yet to hear back from you.

We can include sensors but the selling dealership would have needed to include them at the point of sale. From your comment it sounds like these were not included, and in which case it would be with regret that we cannot cover them on this occasion.

With regards to your second issue, water ingress is not covered by any vehicle warranty product in the UK as far as we are aware. Any type of insurance or financial product will stipulate terms and conditions, as such products are not designed to cover every eventuality.

Wear & tear can also be included by the dealer at the point of sale, subject to the vehicle's age and mileage at inception.

If you would like us to clarify the above or need any further assistance, please do call our claim engineers.

Kind regards

“ AVOID WMS AT ALL COSTS”

took out 4star cover rather than 2 or 3 star for better coverage, alternator went, (420 quid) they would only pay 228 as they wouldn't pay for a proper Volvo replacement saying they only have to buy the cheapest piece of rubbish they could. even when Volvo rang them and said it HAS to be a proper one, and that one customer has a 1800 pound bill because it has messed up other things replacing with a non std part, they said not bothered it is what it is, no concern and no help I had to pay… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/02/2015

Hi Jbrin,

We have been trying to contact you through Review Centre but without success.

Please refer to the terms and conditions of your cover which explain that in the event of a valid claim, we will use service exchange or reconditioned parts if applicable. Main dealer parts can only be authorised if service exchange parts are not available, or the selling dealership has included this option within your warranty agreement.

All service exchange parts are fully guaranteed and come with a minimum of 12 months supplier warranty. Unfortunately main dealers will always claim that OEM parts must be used as they need to meet parts sale targets which are set by the manufacturer.

We are very sorry that you are disgruntled but please do call us if we can be of further assistance.

Hi Yusuf,

As per your conversation with our claims manager last week, we have arranged for the premium paid to the dealership to be refunded. Heater elements are specially excluded from any warranty that we are aware of as it is an ancillary item, and therefore not a mechanical breakdown or electrical failure.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to telephone us.

“Very good service - WMS Warranty Group”

Written on: 28/08/2014 by Billybod (1 review written)

Can honestly say that the service I received from both the selling dealer and WMS has been out of the top drawer. My vehicle (Fiat 500 Arbarth) developed a fault in the gearbox when selecting 2nd gear. I was advised in the first instance to call WMS. This I did and were told to get the fault diagnosed and get back to them. I took it to my local Fiat specialist and it transpired that the 2nd gear sincro has broken. I am not a technical minded person but as per the diagnose the Fiat dealer… Read Full Review

just had a car in with a couple of faults that are listed as covered by WMS warranty, the first fault they refuse to honor as 'it's wear and tear' so i ask what is their definition of failure then as all car parts wear and tear till they fail, no conclusive answer, the second part they wanted to fit a substandard aftermarket repaired item to the car, having dealings with these parts it would no doubt last a week and then their warranty has expired. Further to your post, The WMS Group transfer 98% of all renewal or transfer applications received, unfortunately not all circumstances allow for a transfer of ownership. The WMS Group clearly specify in policy books that ‘we reserve the right to decline any renewal or transfer without explanation’, this would have been stated in the policy book that should have come with the purchase, which you have indicated in your post that you did not receive with the vehicle at the point of sale.

I would like to clarify that you did not actually purchase a Guarantee or Warranty from the WMS Group.

“Help with roadside breakdown.”

My Jaguar broke down on the road with a suspension problem, I rang the warranty company and told them what had happened and they gave me the name of a local garage to ring. I rang the garage and they came out within half an hour which was very good. They towed the vehicle to their garage and gave me a lift to the local train station. The garage checked the car and rang WMS warranty co. whom I had taken a warranty out with when I bought the car ( thank god) they then got the ok to go ahead with… Read Full Review
