“Appalling people skills, mis-leading information”

Took out this warranty when buying my used car 3 months ago, BMW 1 Series. Last week the engine light came on, wasn't running properly, no power and struggling to drive it. Took it into a garage that I trusted and they said the timing chain had been stretched. In the warranty booklet it clearly says it covers the "timing chain" and in the terms and conditions says this item must be broken to be claimed against. “Total Waste of Time”

Called the dealer and arranged an appoint. Upon arrival he says very rudely that the car is at the back, and that's it. Didn't show me the car, I had to go and find it myself. Also did not explain me nor tried to sell as he was not even there. Had the policy for 1 year & 1 week when the turbo went on my car. Following procedure, I rang up and asked for one of their approved garage. I took my car to them who confirmed it was the turbo which was an included part in the warranty. Received my 3 month warranty when I purchased my used Porsche 911, the water pump failed, called WMS and told them of my problem, found them to be very professional and polite. Took my car to my local independent Porsche garage, he called WMS to get work authorised, staff were very helpful and the work required was given the go ahead . Very easy company to deal with. Had a problem with my car, phoned WMS for advice, told them my car reg. number, and said where I would like to take it for diagnosis and repair. Was told straight away that was ok, and WMS would deal directly with the garage. Had my car fixed, paid for the repair, and forwarded the invoice to WMS for reimbursement. I recently bought a Toyota Alphard MPV converted to a campervan and the vehicle is smashing, however the A/C was not working and the garage selling the vehicle referred me to the warranty with WMS. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied, all policies and agreements have specific exclusions listed and we ask all new policy holders to please ensure they read and understand the Terms and Conditions of the policy or agreement, and if there are any questions or queries to please email them in to us. The claim was declined due to the failed items not being listed as covered under the agreement, wear and tear was not a consideration.

Fist of all, let me say that I have no connection with WMS (other than having taken out one of their warranties!)
I have found them invaluable.
If the part was covered, my garage just rang them up to get permission to do the work.
As is the case with a lot of review sites, you only tend to hear negative comments from people who may not have understood the terms of the contract, or who may not have fulfilled their part of the bargain.

They told me to take it to local garage to be assessed luckily the local garage told me straight away that they will not pay for it they will tell it is wear and tear ????? Good Afternoon, We have been trying to get in contact with you through Review Centre but we are yet to hear back from you. We have seen your dissatisfied post on the review centre website, and would like to discuss this with you.
Looking at your review the initial clutch fault appears to be wear & tear rather than mechanical breakage to which you failed to have the item replaced as advise by the local garage, WMS if contacted would have advised against continuing to drive the vehicle as once the fault has been identified, it needs to be rectified regardless of it being covered or not by your Warranty/Agreement.
With regards to the part being sent in, this would be requested by WMS to confirm if the part has worn out or had failed due to mechanical breakage.

this is like telling someone you are covered by life insurance then when they die by a flu for example you tell them oh, flu is wear and tear you need to die by a cancer
you never explained this in such details in your booklet
because you don't have your own garages and your own engineers car owners have to pay for the expenses to get the part to you to check plus the repair if you don't approve it.
I just decided to fix my clutch at my own expenses to get out of this trap and carry on on my business.

Phoned WMS group when I had problems with rear suspension on my BMW 5 series. Was told to take it to local garage to be assessed and as expected received a phone call saying faulty part wasn't covered due to "wear and tear". They even had the cheek to recommend both sides of rear suspension be repaired at my expense when only one side was needed. “Rip off”

Clutch is covered on 4*, but they only pay 60% of clutch cost and NO incidentals OR any other parts that were damaged when the clutch failed. I am looking at a £800 repair bill and WMS are only prepared to fund £345. Oh, and they pay just £45 per hour labour - that must be 1970's rates.... The WMS Group are unable to investigate and respond to your concerns without the necessary information that we have requested. All policies and agreements have specific terms and conditions with many variations that will influence the claim costs and maximum claim liability of individual repairs. “DO NOT BUY”

I had a car with a turbo problem which was found by a mechanic which is an approved garage by this company. They found the issue and notified WMS of the issue. The part was sent to them for inspection and guess what, they declined the claim like majority of people with a totally different reason! The mechanic even said that what they found was definitely not the case. A video evidence was also done to prove that what they found was not the problem! We have requested contact details to allow us to fully investigate your concerns, so far this information has not been forthcoming. Obviously I cannot comment on your individual claim, but on all turbo claims the failed component is sent to a specialist independent turbo company who carry out a full diagnosis and report on the cause of failure and turbo condition, all claims are then subject to that report. If the claim has been rejected, the report would have confirmed that the turbo failure was not covered under the terms and conditions of the agreement.

Your turbo "specialists" are time wasters and telling you incorrect info. We've had someone to check this and is completely different to what you suggested. Turbo now fixed so ain't going to bother dealing with you again.
