“Great all round service”

Written on: 16/05/2013 by smartmovebrabus (1 review written)

Chose ECU Doctor after reading all the reviews and gave them a call. From the first contact I felt the staff were friendly and helpful, even asking the engineer if they could test my particular ECU as it was not one they normally had. The answer was yes so I packed it up and sent it off. Got an emal back next morning saying the unit had arrived and would be looked at soon. Next day got a phone call patched through to the engineer. He explained that my ECU could not be tested past a few... (read more)

“shogun sport ECU - Just failed one day! Thank You Doc”

Written on: 27/04/2013

After reading a few reviews i was still a bit sceptical about sending my ECU off. But i am so glad i did. I phoned before hand to ensure they could repair my ecu type. They phoned to say they had received it. Two days later I then got a call to say they had found the fault and I asked them to go ahead and repair. The ECU was back the next day - great service (From sending to return 4 days). Initially it did not work and after conversation with Rob he asked me to return it so he could double... (read more)

Written on: 02/03/2013

I sent my Diesel ECU to this place via a reputable workshop on the 12th Feb,between that day and the 28th Feb i didn't hear a thing, after reading their website i thought it better not to hassle them,as it warns against this(which i thought was very rude customer service to print such a thing on a company website!)so i emailed the 'Doc',i got a reply albeit very defensive and quite rude.I then telephoned and spoke to a lady, she passed a message on to the 'Doc',he called me later and said he... “Fantastic Service, Quick Turn Around, Friendly to deal...”

Written on: 16/02/2013 by TrotterD (1 review written)

I was told by the garage who were trying to fix my old Ford Focus that the ECU appeared faulty and would cost more than the car is worth to fix. I found the ECU Doctor on the Internet, sent my ECU to the ECU Doctor on a Thursday Morning, got a call from them on Friday morning saying the ECU failed the diagnostics but is repairable. I asked them to repair it and got it back on Saturday morning. Three day turnaround including delivery times was fantastic. I cost me £200 to fix and was well... (read more)

“everything I hoped for”

Written on: 13/12/2012 by robinrayner (1 review written)

Found them on ebay emailed and got a sensible freindly reponse, shipped the 206 sagem ecu that gave no spark. The day after it arrived in Plymouth they confirmed it faulty and quoted a fixed price repair. offered advice on changing the coil pack. 2 days later it was shipped out to us in france and when fitted on the car that was otherwise heading to the scrap yard is started perfectly. The french back street garage quoted 1400 euros plus labour. I have read a negative review but this is how... (read more)

“First Class Customer Care”

Written on: 16/07/2012

Sent an ECU for checking/repair. I was advised that it was beyond repair and offered a replacement for £225. The replacement ECU was received within a matter of days however, it was found to be faulty. The company sent a replacement within 48 hours however this was found to be incompatible. Both ECUs were returned to the Company and they contacted me immediately upon receipt (the next day) to arrange my refund. Yes, the ECU Doctor couldn't supply the correct ECU but I have rated them... “I kept the fried ecu they returned (repaired?) as a...”

Written on: 17/06/2012 by MarkMZ (1 review written)

as you may have guessed from the title I can't recommend these people other than to trading standards, or, frankly, the police. Sent a blown ecu to them for repair: prior to posting had a check inside the case to establish if there was a visible fault, which indeed there was : burnt diode (very). Took a photo, packed it up and off it went. Came back a few days later, having been charged over £300, with a label on the case which read ' unit rebuilt & tested by ecu doctor' Now that was a... Hmmm, two people say repaired for £230 ish and you say not repaired for over £300. Where are the pictures then? Ours had no label on it as you said yours did and it has a gaurantee as well. Someone else says not charged when they could not repair it!!!!

Dellboy01, thanks for your feedback on my review. If you can can tell me how to post pictures of the unrepaired ECU on Reviewcentre then I will happily oblige. If you were charged £230 and it works, that's great. Why you would highlight with an 'Hmmm' that you were charged a different price from me is beyond my understanding: if you had looked around at the few companies that service ECU's, as I did, you would learn that costs vary for obvious reasons (they're all different?) I note that on one well-known website ECUdoctor advertise "Our standard charge for a rebuild is £120 plus parts". So one would assume that the 'parts' ECUdoctor may have used in your case came to around £110. You mention that yours had no label on it (mine did) - but why is that relevant? In the absence of a photo I can describe it as a nice silver metallised label with their name address etc. Hope that helps.
To recap, I'm happy you had a positive experience with this lot, mine was exactly as described. That you would raise rather bizarre observations about my own experience does make me wonder whether your 'review' is in fact a shill review.

Hi there, you mention nothing about their 1 year warranty policy in addition to whether you were given a total refund or not? What was the outcome in the end? Would appreciate if you had something to say in regards tyo this... ? Your just expressing your complaints all the time but your never say what they did for you later on?

Thanks Kolilur for the opportunity to respond to your questions.
You comment that you don't know what the "....outcome in the end" was (for me) and "....expressing complaints all the time but you never say what they did for you later on"
I would ask you take the opportunity to read my review: it clearly describes my experience and the final outcome. How you choose to interpret this experience is entirely up to you.
What I will add is some additional information which I chose to omit first time round: I contacted several ecu repair / re-manufacturing companies during the course of my dealings with ECU Doctor. Each of these companies refused to look at the unit as this had previously been in the hands of the ECU Doctor - one (reputable company who undertake work for GM) even went as far as discussing certain of their own clients experience of ECU Doctor. It was not flattering.
Kolilur I suspect this is another review, just like the other hugely complementary reviews stuck up here (they stand out a mile). Just consider that every time you encourage debate on this company you push it up the search rankings, which is hardly doing ECU Doctor any favours. Why not let it go; customers can read the reviews put up here, decide which are genuine and which are not and then make their own minds up.

“ECU Doctor Review”

I was a bit worried about tyring this company as I couldn't find any reviews for them. Although they were not able to help me with my particular ecu/pcm problem, they were very kind and helpful. They sent my ecu back promptly and free of charge( they could have charged me for postage of diagnostic costs, but did not) and gave me helpful info. on other organisation that were of help. I am very pleased with the help, support & first-rate customer service I received from them. For anyone... (read more)
