“Dishonest, avoid at all costs. Not as cheap as you think!”

I booked my full service and MOT with Servicing Stop as the prices were competitive and the convenience of having my car collected and delivered was attractive. The member of staff who called to confirm the order was clear in saying that any excess costs required to get the car through the MOT etc. would first need to be authorised by me.
However, after a few hours of the car being picked up I was contacted by a pushy and rude call centre worker who informed me that my car needed “special” engine oil (£35), brake fluid flush and replacement (£60+) and an aircon recharge (£65). I was a bit put out by this as my car is a Renault Megane, not exactly a Formula 1 car, so the oil required can’t be that unusual or expensive. Furthermore, they knew the make and model of my car as soon as the booking was made and should have been aware of this.
Given the attitude and rudeness of the staff member on the phone, as well as the fact that I had already paid for a full service and as it stood, this was not even going to include engine oil, I asked for the car to be returned un-serviced. The staff member then said that the service had been started so they would not release the car if I didn’t pay in full. He also said that if I didn’t at least pay for the engine oil then they wouldn’t stamp my log book! So, essentially:
1) If I didn’t pay at all they wouldn’t give my car back,
2) If I paid for the service as agreed I would get my car back but without a record of the service having been completed.
Therefore, my only option was to pay the minimum extra to get them to stamp my logbook - £35+VAT for some “special” engine oil.
Aside from having now paid more than I could have had a service done for locally and not even receiving the “full service” that I paid £200 for, my main gripe is that they knew from the registration number at booking that the car needed “special” oil (which I dispute anyway), but waited until the service was underway before informing me, essentially forcing me to pay for their added extras. This strikes me as a deliberately dishonest business model.
Furthermore, my car was not cleaned either inside or out, this goes against their Dragons Den pitch which is advertised all over the company’s website.

In conclusion, Servicing Stop appear to have a dishonest method of doing business and aren’t actually any cheaper than getting the service done in a local garage (which is all they do anyway, as the middle man!).
Obviously the rude and deceitful folks at Servicing Stop forgot in their business plan that people get their cars serviced annually…… no repeat business from me!
I would advise anyone reading this to - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
