“KWIK FIT - DON'T RISK IT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jerry156 on 21/07/2014

There must be good Kwik Fit Garages out there and I do not want to slander those garages. But the service I received in 2 Glasgow branches (Pollokshield and Great Western Road) was awful and untrustworthy.

I went for new rear brakes and was advised the front brakes and front tyres also needed replacing. I agreed and paid out £700, I knew I needed work done, in front of a MOT.

I had to return to the Pollokshields branch where the work was done, on four occasions.

The first time was poor fitting - hence badly trained. The error was admitted by the garage, a shim had slipped.
The second time was poor workmanship refitting the brake protective cover. Again there were apologies and I was promised new covers to compensate.
The third time I had to go back was for the same reason as the first time.

On this occasion I was warned my exhaust (which was fairly new) had a hole in the middle flex section. There had been no noise after giving the car over to them.

I still had to go back to get the brake covers fitted since there was a delay. I go the exhaust fitted and the manager actually produced a photo on his phone of where he expected the exhaust to fail next. Incredible, predicting a failure of a part he has just serviced.

Now I was angry and very, very worried. I called Kwik Fit and they apologised and advised going to another Kwik Fit garage.

I went to Great Western Road. They advised me the brakes were fine and it was my driveshaft. This caused more worry and confusion.

Next I went to a local garage in Ibrox used by a colleague at work. There the work was done well. My brakes were fixed, there was no need for a new driveshaft or anything of that kind, and I only had a tiny leak in the power steering. He also fixed a little leak in the rubber seal at my rear light, for nothing, and said otherwise the car was fine.

To summarise, what I found in Kwik Fit was badly trained and lazy staff, and possibly dishonest workmanship.

If you have a problem with your tyres, fine, you can probably rely on Kwik Fit.

If you have anything else wrong, DO NOT RISK KWIK FIT in the Glasgow area.
