Won't mention where I took my car. But was booked in on Thursday at 12.30PM for a free "no obligation brake inspection" I arrived at 11am appoligised for being early but they said "we'll look at it just leave it with us" thought they were pleasant enough handed over the keys and walked away, I assumed as according to their website it would take approx an hour so I went home and expecred a call at 2PM......nothing so I waited some more..5pm nothing...I recived a phone call at 11am the next day (not bad for somthing that takes an hour) apperently they went to phone me yesterday and they couldn't get through even though I gave them 2 different phone numbers and i was near both phones all day. Anyway that was the least of my worries I was informed they had completed my brake check and was advised NOT to drive the vehicle until they had fixed the problems as my car was "unroadworthy" and they were confused how it passed it's MOT just 3 months before, I was quoted a list of parts including 4 new wheels as apparently mine were over 10 years old even though there actually 2 years old!! I seriously doubt it has the same tyres it left the factory with...(which i dont need) wheel balancing (which i dont need) wheel alignment (which i dont need) new wheel valves (which again I don't need) there was quite a list and it came to roughly £900. I informed them that I was going to just pick the car up and maybe drop it in next week to have the work done (I lied) I arrived and they wernt too happy with me taking the car but they didn't have a choice. I took it to an independent garage for a 2nd opinion and they had test driven my car only a few weeks ago, they read the report found it laughable and quoted me £148 to fix everything to a roadworthy condition...These people are car part salesmen and not mechanics!!

Funny thing is I have some mechanical knowledge and my first ever job was working for Ford so I know how much parts are at trade prices anyway. I could actually repair my brakes myself but as there brakes I didn't want to get it wrong. I didn't mention any of this when I took it in or collected it i actually played stupid a little bit, loved the bit on the phone when they tried to explain everything I already knew but i was like "oh really?" lol however looking at the report I don't know where they are trying to source these parts from must be harrods...
