Worryingly similar to some of the other stories here. Took my car to have a service at Welwyn Halfords Autocentre, and while it was in had a call that both the front and back brake pads AND discs needed doing, being more than a bit suspicious said no.
Went to collect the car and had more detail from them: £520 or so to do the work, back of car brakes at manufacturers minimum recommendation (2mm), front close behind (4mm), but if they did they would be “brakes for life” etc and got the leaflet given to me.
Tried not to use the car and when I could had it checked elsewhere; nothing wrong with the discs and nothing even wrong with the pads, about half-worn, no need to change them!
I can’t believe this, I will never go to Halfords Autocentre again! This must be illegal retail practice! Be warned!
