“Avoid at all costs”

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY CAR INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY. I was quoted a price for car insurance on a price comparison site. Initially it was a general enquiry as my policy was not due for renewal for another four weeks. Within ten minutes of getting the price someone from swinton called me to sell me the policy. After twenty minutes on the phone I had been sold the policy, incidentally the price I paid was actually one hundred pounds more than quoted on the price comparison site. What then followed was what I would class as harassment. In the space of two weeks I had twenty six phones call and eleven letters from swinton. They wanted to sell me an insurance policy which had been included free of charge for the first three months and when I indicated to the sales advisor that I did not have time to listen to it he was somewhat offensive. I sent them details of my no claims as requested after three reminder letters all two days apart and was told that the premiuim would be £100.00 more than quoted. When I said that I was totally fed up of the harassment and wanted to cancel I was told that there was a cancellation fee but they would not tell what that cancellation fee was. The advisor then started shouting at me. I eventually through sheer frustartion put the telephone down to be then contacted by the sales advisor who started shouting again at me. After that I refused to take any calls. I received a letter, posted the day the calls were received and the day before the Easter break which received on 9th April telling me that I had to pay the premium because I had not paid it. I then received another letter on 12th April indicating that they had passed the debt to the debt collection agency. All this before the policy had even started. To add insult to injury I had opted to pay for my policy by direct debit so they could of easily added the extra premium to the direct debit they were due to claim.
I scoured the website for an email conatct to complain but there is not one you have to ring them and be subjected to more abuse. I just dread tp think what would happen if I actually had to make a claim.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THE ADVICE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN DRIVING FOR 21 YEARS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS OR CLAIMS WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES AND DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY. CHEAPEST DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN BEST.
