I had a quote for my daughter's car insurance from another company which was high (admittedly she is only 19). I decided, as she is at university, to insure the car in my name only and add her on an ad hoc basis when she was home. I explained all this to the man on the phone and he said 'no problem, we can add your daughter when she's home'. Yesterday I found out this was actually only for a total of 6 weeks in a year. No-one told me that - I wouldn't have taken out the insurance if I'd known. So I was stuck with a policy that was effectively useless. I complained and told them I'd been mis-sold a policy. The woman on the phone disagreed, saying 'we can't cover all eventualities, you should have told us how many times in the year your daughter was going to use the car'. Excuse me? Why is it my job to do that? Surely when I mentioned what I was intending to do they should have alerted me to the fact that they had certain stipulations to this. So because they can't do their job properly I end up paying for it. I have cancelled the policy and will take this complaint as high as I can - I will not get all my money refunded and, even though my daughter's policy was cancelled today, it could be 5 days before I get some money back. Appalling, this is just a rip-off. I will never use them again and once my own insurance on my car is due I will look elsewhere. Do not use Sheila's Wheels.
