Unprofessional & unhelpful

I chose RCiB for comprehensive car insurance from comparethemarket.com and went through their additional questions to those already filled in on the comparison site (necessary in the first place to generate the quotes). The option to pay online was accompanied with a message that they would need to speak with me to ensure my details supplied were correct before the payment would be processed and commencement of insurance. (1.20pm) To speed things up I took up the option to complete by telephone, but was told no-one in that department was available and they would call me back. After an hour without a call, I had to pop out during which time an operative called (sod's law!!),but said they would call again in an hour (3.30pm). By 5.10pm I telephoned and receptionist attempted to put me through to the correct department. On hold until 5.30pm (20 mins) at which point I telephoned again and explained that I had been on hold for a long time and would appreciate actually speaking to someone who could action the insurance process. Put through to someone who asked my details and said that I could not be found on their system and that she would put me through to another department. On hold till 5.55pm at which point I gave up and tried their customer serviced number, but was on hold with that! I checked my bank and noticed that the insurance

Spoke to an operative the following day and was asked to confirm all of the details I had originally provided. Then put on hold for 10 mins, only to be told that the provider of the policy I had been quoted for and accepted (for which they had obtained payment authorization) wanted to charge more, and that he had tried two other providers who also wanted to charge more than the quote. I declined!

I returned to comparethemarket.com and selected Dial Direct Insurance and was printing out my certificate of motor insurance within ten minutes!
