Just set up policy only to get a email in the first week stating I had made a mid term adjustment and have been charnged £25. Puzzled by this I rang them flor an explanation, the nice lady said it's probley the NCD,she went quiet fora while and came back stating that our no claims discount is that we provided is 4 years, and on the applicatio we stated 3 years. I wish I had read the reviews before I paid!

If you choose prudential be aware, the service is superb, the insurance is good but if you stay with them for more than 1 yr they will absolutely rip you of on the renewal. After 2 years where I contacted them and got the quote reduced from 20% over the market price to just over so not worth moving they obviously decided this year that they could trick me. The quote they gave me was nearly 3 times the lowest quote I could get and twice the market average. Can't stay with a company that thinks it can cheat me.

I was a customer of forty years and had a renewal quote of £588 but when I informed of a speeding offence of 35mph in a 30mph limit it was raised to £788. NFU given exactly the same information and quoted £396 for the same terms. Needless to say I have changed to NFU and House Insurance will follow.

I initially took out a motor car policy with Prudential prior to March 2004. Since that time the policy had been allowed to renew every year. This year the premuium was excessive and although they offered an immediate reduction of £100 I felt it wrong that they tried to charge the extra £100 in the first place. Therfore I cancelled the renewal. Imagine my surprise when I found they (Prudential) had taken a further months payment from my account on the last day of the previous policy validity. On querying this payment Prudential insisted that in the first year on monthly payments they had given me one months grace of payments and that I had always paid monthly in arrears. What a generous insurers the are!!!! Please beware of this problem and do not let Prudential do the same to you.

Appaling customer service.
Had an accident that wan't my fault and they assumed it was my fault all the way along. Asked them if they wanted photos or more information and they said they don't need it.
All they took was a telephone statement and then made their conclusion and that there was no ground for appeal.
Really devestated my own insurance company (prudential) aren't even sticking up for me. Solicitor said it should be 50/50 or non-fault.
Avoid at all costs.

I have been with Prudential insurance for the last 10 years. And never claimed for anything that wasn't my fault. Ive just put a complaint in about the service there giving me. Here's the story. I took fully comp buissness insurance out this time round instead of private. just so I had the cover i needed. Last saturday I curbed my car slipping in the snow this bent the wheel bad and also a support bar. not a costley job to repair. Less than £100 to do. But What I really needed was a car so I could still get to work and run my buisnees. I called them on sunday. they tell me Im not priority as I wasn't stranded at the side of the road away from my home and there were others that were that needed help first. They said they wouldnt be able to get me a courtisy car today as it was the weekend so I would have to call back on monday. I did this and they tell me that they can get me a car for wednesday. I said thats no good for me as I need to be on the road now. If I was to wait till wednesday that would mean 3 days off work. I said to them it wasn't right that I would loose my £200 excess + 3 days off work would make that a £550 loss to me. I said well my excess would now be £550 so what gives I asked. They tell me that they dont have to give me it immediatly and that when I next take insurance out with them that I should enquire about the advance car policy as that gives me a guarenteed courtosy car immediatly. I said to the guy how come you give me this info on the event of a claim and not when I'm buying the cover. He said simply WE DONT HAVE TO, I was fuming. Anyway the long and short of it is I canceled the claim and I got my local garage to fix the car and it cost me less that £100 to do it. and I only lost 1 days work. On wednesday I got a call from UK assistence telling me that they couldnt get a car over to me. I said no problem as It was canceled anyway, But this would of meant that I would have prob been without a car for about a week in total if I had of gone thru with the claim. Like I say I never claim. and have been with them for 10 years. I have put a complaint in but have they got back to me yet NO. I used to be happy with the Pru and trusted the company. But now I just see them as terrible now. I wont be going back to them next year... Very poor and very greedy indeed.

I was with Prudential for 8 years before my reduced budget forced me to search for cheap insurance. I made a claim during my second year with them after my car was damaged by a stolen car. Repairs were done very quickly and satisfactorily. I was also provided with a courtesy car. I've never really felt as secure since leaving the Prudential and, if I was still earning a wage, I would return to them tomorrow.

I ran into a van and the first thing I battled with was getting a replacement rental car for my wife (I work away usually). Prudential said we had to wait till the assessor had looked at the car, we waited 5 days and thought that was enough. Then were told he has looked at it but should be calling us, but it looked like it was written off and to start looking for a new car to buy. 3 days later we called and were told he had gone on holiday and it is now not written off and the repair company would send out a small courtesy car (2 door - useless for us) . The same day the repair company called us directly saying that the insurance company were probably mistaken as it would cost more to fix than they think. We are now waiting for the assessor to come back from holiday.

Unfortunately my first car was stolen whilst i was out of town, called the police who checked the CCTV and advised that there was no footage. Then my second car was involved in a non fault car accident, my car being worth in the region of £50,000.00, I thought it sensible to go through my own insurers being Prudential Car Insurance.
The nightmare began, to date they haven't paid me for the theft of my first car or for the second car (which i must add was written off) everytime i ring them i hear the rudest of employees. To date i ring them three times a day do they can get a move on with my cases, i wasn't therefore surprised to note that my file handler was on holiday and wont be back for two weeks. in that time no one will deal with it.
I would never ever recommend them to anyone one i would rather pay the extra premium knowing that i have the piece of mind that i will get paid out.
Now i am struggling because it has been7 months they still haven't paid me out and im still paying off the finance on the 2nd expensive car.

I had an accident (Other drivers fault), the other driver admitted liability. I did not get a courtesy car as they said that they cannot decide whether the car is a write off or repair and they could not check it until 1 month later. When the car was finally checked I was told that I would be paid out less the excess when it was the other drivers fault!!!
Prudential lost the liability claim, insulted me when I phoned saying to be patient, it is now 2 months on and I still have not been paid, not had a courtesy, my car has been taken away, all I get told is wait for the cheque in the post it will be up to 10 working days ... It has now been 10 working days and I still dont have this cheque.
The companies employee's are rude, the company is slow, even though they were not losing money as it was tesco car insurance that was paying out they do not even try to defend your case!!!!
Absolutely poor company, would never get insured with them again. All nice at first but as soon as you need to make a claim they just don't care!!!

As we said they stall on every point, as we were injured in the accident we keep asking for a claims form and they say it has been sent time and time again, the council have sent us a bill for road closure which was sent to them to pay which they said they would, we had another demand to pay the bill, pru said they had paid it. We received a final bill given us 10 days to pay or legal action would be taken against us! on taking this matter up with the pru they said they were not going to pay until they had heard from the police. we had no option but to pay this ourselves as we would get a bad credit rating . We would not recommend this company to anybody!!

Where to start!!! I was hit by a drink driver at the beginning of July and had very serious whiplash meaning I was off work for two months and my car was written off. I spent 6 weeks arguing with prudential over the value of my car (they had knocked off almost £500 for things that didn't exist before the accident). It was only when I went through the financial ombudsman that they eventually agreed on a more suitable price. The other drivers insurance was MUCH more helpful than my own and in a very traumatic time for me Prudential did nothing to help me.

Would recommend not going with Prudential as they just messed me around. Had an accident which I initially claimed for no damage to other vehicle which was a lorry who hit my small Micra. Was told to settle for 50/50 and that I could not appeal This took about 5 months. Decided to appeal to them anyway was then told 3 months later that I did not have enough evidence and that was that. Decided to recind my claim as I had no work carried out on my car ( otherwise I would have had to pay £200 excess plus increased premium and lose my no claims bonus). Am now having to get repaired privately which is saving me a lot more money than going insurance. More ever coming up to renewal period I was adamant I was not going to renew with Pru who had kindly sent me a renewal policy with premium of £1000. However thought I would check if it had changed after rescinding my claim as I was getting desperate to renew. Rang up only to find out that the claim I thought I had rescinded had actually not been closed and told it was still open which annoyed me a hell of a lot and actually made me decide that there was no way I would renew with Prudential. In the end they rang me back and closed it for me and I am still searching for a decent insurer if they even exist insurers just seem intent on taking your money but not fighting your claim for you when the accident is obviously not your fault .
Moral of the story don't go with Pru

Up until today my intention was to go back to them when I return to the UK. But not anymore.
If Prudential car insurance cannot master adding my name and number of years no claims to a standard fax and sending it - what chance have they of sorting out an actual claim?

Their non-UK call centres are a problem, as the culture difference leads to poor customer service.
Prudential car insurance also have problems corresponding when a query is raised.

My Prudential Car Insurance policy lapsed because the direct debits bounced when I was abroad for 3 months, however, when I got back there was a mountain of mail telling me exactly what was going on, they even released my no claims and gave me a pro rata discount due to the cancellation. Unfortunately I didn't get back in time to stop the cancellation but I must admit, overall, one of the best companies I have ever dealt with, they even do company car driver schemes (my brother tells me).
