I am very disappoint of Provident Insurance. They cancelled my car insurance policy without letting me know. When I called them for more informacion , they even couldn't give any reason for that. Very disappoint.

“Worst insurance company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NickolasO'Sullivan29 on 31/01/2020

Got a new policy out with provide t after being recommended by a friend then had my first policy cancelled as the details I entered over the phone they entered wrong on the system then charged me £50 more to get a new policy out, phoned up yesterday to tell them about me occasionally staying at girlfriends and been told they don’t cover that, so they hung up so tried calling back and they hung up again, now I have had a email saying I’ve requested to change address and have to pay £212.20 within a week or my policy will be cancelled, will be leaving at end of my policy and making it clear to all friends and family to stay clear

“ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Skinner88 on 23/04/2019

Where do I start .. When I took out my insurance with provident I had filled in my form for my insurance claim and made sure everything was perfect on there INCLUDING my incident in 2016, the website had then had some problem and told me to call customer service which I did.. for then a customer server to ask if everything was correct with my claim and I confirmed. A year on and I have now had an accident baring in kind they had no problem taking my money for the whole year with no problems. Unfortunately I had an accident a few months ago and made a claim then with them, they picked up my written off car 2-3 days later! And took my car to one of their garages and said they will be in contact in a couple days, this went on for a week or so. For me to then have to call them to ask what’s happening with my car to then be told it’s a write off. When having this conversation with them they then decide to tell me my insurance is invalid because I failed to inform them about my incident in 2016! Well isn’t that convenient that they apparently didn’t know about this the whole year till I had to claim. So now two months on I’m still waiting for voice recordings that apparently takes over a month and a half to get. And left with no car and £1500 out of pocket paying for something provident clearly wasn’t insuring me for. If I am right I have been with insurance company’s before if they didn’t see the incident why ask if everything’s correct on the form and why not do check like every other insurance company does and tell me that you can’t take my claim rather than take my money and tell me I was never insured. Now having to go through court with the company and prove that the service is terrible and they keep transferring me to other company’s that can’t even give me information, to top it all off I’ve been fed wrong information this whole time to being offered 19% of the cars value if it’s a misunderstanding which in my head that seems like they have already taken fault by even giving me an offer and 2 they told me the recordings would be with me in 24 hours and it’s been a month to now be told because I’ve now requested all recordings I now have to wait a further month for all of them. Which is probably like 4/5 recordings baring in mind that’s not a lot at all. Now I’ve been left with no car a finance to pay and been paying gap insurance and now because they say they won’t pay out I’m stuck in slot of debt! Worst company I have ever been with in my whole life!!! Don’t make the mistake I did

“Worst company ever!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Wildaws88 on 11/03/2019

In all my life I’ve never experienced such shocking service from any company. After a full year of being insured with Provident I was sent a very generic email telling me they could not renew my claim for the following year and I would have to find alternative cover. No explanation, no thanks for a year of paying us and making no claims, just see ya !! Upon phoning them I was passed to a so called “team leader” only to be unceremoniously hung up on when expressing my dismay at suddenly being without insurance through no fault of my own and with no explanation. Shoddy treatment of customers, unprofessional staff, no loyalty whatsoever and quite happy to add stress and financial burden to customers for no good reason other then some clap trap about computer systems which only reminded me of the computer says no sketch from Little Britain. I advise anyone researching this company to stay well away because come renewal time you may find yourself up the creek and Provident simply won’t give a tiny rats backside! Should not be able to continue trading with such an awful customer service record

If you value your pink licence please do yourself a favour and do not insure yourself with this dreadful company who thinks it's acceptable to randomly cancel insurance then send a cheeky farewell text after the fact! How I didn't get stopped by old bill is beyond Me!

I was considering to insure my car with this company, however, thank you to all the reviewers I take the advice and avoid this company. The reviews are real horror stories. I believe that all companies running comparison sites should take note. Thanks again to all review writers.

“The worst customer service in the UK”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/07/2017

Was told I could add my no-claim bonus from Germany after moving back to the UK but then told I needed to have it translated, then after going to the expense of translation, I was told they could not accept it as it was from a different car ( yes, as it was a LHD car we got rid of it in Germany) and because the no claims was a reference to a percentage that was to be paid rather than a reduction. Truely awful and completely lied to be before i went with them. When i told them i would not be renewing they didn't confirm it but when the last payment didn't go through they cancelled my policy and charged me a cancellation charge which was the same as the premium. Absolute sharks!

“Avoid at all cost”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jcKerr396 on 01/02/2017

You may think it's cheaper to go with this insurance company but in the long run if you have an accident or someone hits you you will then find out the true nature of this company on December 11th 2016 my car was involved in a non fault accident which then I contacted the insurance company which then contacted a garage upon returning my car 21 Days Later upon inspection of the car the bodywork was fixed but the impact had broken a brake module on informing the insurance company that the car was not fixed they then proceeded to tell me that they would not fix the car again it cost me £200 to get fixed and then their customers service then said I hope this brings this to a closure...... rude people and a company I would not be returning to

“Appalling service, borderline discriminatory, DO NOT USE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1982Miller on 06/08/2016

After receiving an online quote I called to pay. First they attempted to give me an excess of more than the car was worth, and then after taking various details and keeping me on the phone for an hour at my own expense they told me that they couldn't offer me insurance but they didn't know why. As soon as they discovered I was disabled they became *extremely* hostile; they also tried to refuse to speak to my carer (I have a hearing impairment) despite me giving permission, and kept speaking over me. When their system couldn't handle the contradiction of a car worth less than the new driver excess they became extremely hostile and unhelpful. The gentleman on the phone did not seem to know how his own system worked. Needless to say I went to another company - and by the look of the reviews here we had a narrow escape!

“Worst company ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cooney213 on 04/06/2014

Having had an accident (non fault) back in 2011, the claim is still in dispute some 2 1/2 years later. My solicitor is in the process of issuing the claim in court. I have been contacted on several occasions demanding for the £3,000 excess. Having read through the T&C's, I am not liable to pay unless I have been held at fault. I have pointed this out on several occasions however, I am still being threatened with legal action from their legal department. Until a judge or my insurance company have held me at fault and have this in writing, I will not be paying the excess. I suggest anyone reading this review do the same and not bullied by the underwriter's OPINION. Never would have purchased this policy had I fully understood the policy details or known I would have had to deal with a shame of a company.

“Worst Way of handling Customers and Money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JasonTim on 05/12/2013

I had an accident few months before. After 4 long months i was send a letter saying; you need to pay your 3000 Pounds excess. With out informing me about the outcome of what they have paid and not willing to furnish the details; they simply gave me a letter saying pay your 3K with in 14 days or legal action will commence. Didnt listen to any of my points when i gave them a call. Stupid customer service. Never go with them. They are after money. They are hell bent on recovering money from people rather than helping them. Such a dumb people sitting on the other end.

“Selling Information ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/03/2013

I am writing this review as the services from this company was shocking and to later get a phone call from a 3rd party company that can only have obtained my details from provident insurance has annoyed me. This company under valued my vehicle, made claimes of existing damage, made calls to my mobile leaving messages on my voicemails of one person talking to another about me! , would not offer information to me willingly I had to seeks an older male to get the information which I required and to add insult to provided a settlement of £35.00 for a car that had a market value of £1200.00, the car could have been repaired or scraped and I would have been better off. Then for a company to call and say I had been in a collision with in the last 3 years to which I replied no for them to agree yes you have and provide me with the Date of the collision … it was not a collisions is was a fault incident as the road was flooded somehow I do not think I would have been able to make a claim against water!? And they wonder why we live in a claim culture Please be warned if you are a young female do not use this company or if you want your personal information to stay personal do not use this company I was relived to have this company out of my life as the stress they added to a situation which was affecting my lively hood is unforgivable, I have to drive for a living and I will not be happy if I have to change the mobile number I have had for 10 year as a result of them SELLING information to 3rd party companies.
