ABSOLUTELY AWFUL, they sent me an email, treating me like a criminal, asking all sorts of evasive questions. So today, I asked to cancel the policy *before it has started* and they are charging a £60 admin fee!. AVOID POLICY EXPERT. I will be reporting them to the Insurance Ombudsman, and to my credit card company for taking my money :( ABSOLUTELY AWFUL 0/10.

What exacerbated the situation was the unresponsiveness of my broker, Shoaib, who not only failed to address my concerns but also blocked my attempts to reach out for clarification. The sudden cancellation of my insurance policy has left me feeling vulnerable and stressed, as I rely on insurance coverage for peace of mind and security. The lack of resolution and communication from policyexpert.co.uk has only added to my distress. I am hopeful that policyexpert.co.uk will take swift action to investigate this matter thoroughly and provide a satisfactory resolution. “Cancelled my insurance ”

I was abroad and my car was parked at my locked garage, the car was without insurance for 5 days , When I came back I insured my car with policy expert, After 2 weeks they cancelled my policy because I had 5 Days gap. I explained them that I was abroad but they didn't accept it so they cancelled the policy and they charged me the cancellation fee as well. I believe they're unprofessional They Acted just like any other dodgy companies

“Never the price they promise”

I got a car insurance quote yesterday from Policy Expert (£656.69) which I was informed was a fixed price for 6 days. Went into the quote today (just 14 hrs later) and the quote had increased by £12.67p for no reason whatsoever, I did not change a thing. This quote was valid for 6 days (from 2nd to 8th Oct). I needed to change the start date by 5 days, it was scheduled to start 9th October but I needed the car from the 4th October. When I changed the date to start on the 4th the price jumped by almost £300. A valid quote from 2nd to 8th October jumps almost £300 if I decide to accept the quote on a different day, but, within the quote window time-frame!You just cannot make it up how car insurance companies rip off their customers in the UK. One word you cannot link to Policy Expert is honesty.

Policy Expert provided great value cover, when renewal came around the price did go up slightly - however one quick call I spoke with an agent and he helped me out ensuring that the policy was suitable for my needs, as well as applying a loyalty discount. Many thanks! The call was handled quickly and efficiently.

“change to EV if you want a Cancellation Charge!”

So, I'm changing my car next week to an MG5 Excite EV. I called Policy Expert to overlap my existing policy for the new vehicle, no problem they said. When I told them it was an MG5 EV they told me they don't insure electric vehicles yet. So I ascertained that my existing policy for my Merc would have to be cancelled in the future which would incur a £60 cancellation fee, just because the Insurance company can't do their job and insure cars!! is this fair or right? Policy Expert don't seem to care. Hence the 1 star and a lost customer and hopefully more when they see this review.

“Failed promise”

Policy is okay but similar to others. What swayed me was a 20% discount promo e on my forthcoming car renewal. When I applied for the car insurance I was not not applicable for renewals and would not bevhonoured! So cancelled auto renewal and taken a cheaper policy, lower excess and better options. I will not be renewing my home insurance either next year courtesy of a calendar note, as there was other options. Not sure if I was played by call one, or call two, but there will not be any further calls.

“Policy Expert Cancelled my Car insurance for no reason ”

I had both home and car insurance with Policy Expert. Policy Expert cancelled my car insurance with no warning. I had emailed them my no claims and explained that I could not upload to their portal. And then emailed asking if I needed to do anything else? They ignored me and then canceled my policy. When I explained they had the info they needed they said they could not view PdF's sometimes. What business cannot read a PDF?! Needless to say that I will not be renewing my insurance with them. I was fined for not having an insured car without my knowledge. Then I had to take my car off road and then start again with a new provider. Customer service - when you get through and when they don't cut you off and the contact centre is in South Africa and the system is often down in my experience. If you ask to speak to a manager you are prevented from complaining:'oh no I can deal with this for you,'which essentially is a block to complaining. They are sometimes Policy Central and sometimes 1st Central so good luck setting any alerts for priority emails. And, sometimes they communicate via text and sometimes they don't so wholly inconsistent. Not a keeper.

Absolutely unsafe and unfair company. They terminate my insurance policy without notifying me. After the policy has been terminated, they are collect money from my account. English Pēc polises cancelēšanas naudu neatdos un uz epast neatbild After canceling the policy, the money will not be returned and the e-mail will not be answered. Very bad customer service. Don't accept a cheap offer. It's not worth it.

“Change of Address at high cost”

I contacted Policy Expert to change my address on my car insurance policy at the cost of £30, which in my opinion is far too high a cost. The last company I was insured with charged £12.95 which I considered bad enough. To top it all I was informed the cost of my insurance would increase by £121.44. I was told this was due to the postcode as it must be higher risk and there must have been incidents in the area. Two things that does not make the above factually correct. 1. Our postcode is practically identical with only the last two letters being different. 2. We live in a new build so the road has not been used to a great extent. I went ahead and made the changes as was also informed cancelling would cost me £60. I believe the increase of £121.44 should not have been charged as it cannot be justified on the postcode.

Making any change to a policy can result in your premium changing. There are several factors, including all characters of the postcode, which are taken into consideration when making a change to the address of a policy.

“Deliberately obtuse ”

Paid for insurance two weeks before it was due to start. After payment Policy Expert asked for: Copies of mine and wife's driving licence, a utility bill, mine and my wife's driving records from the dvla and the vehicle V5 document. Something to do with a random identity fraud check I was told? I am unable to supply the photo card licence for myself as it has my previous address on it and still needs changing. (we have just moved house) Simpler for me to cancel the insurance and buy elsewhere for which they are charging me a £30 cancellation fee and refuse to waive it. Not sure what I've done to these guys (the call center staff were sound tbf) but I'm now £30 down it takes me three hours to earn that. Thank heavens for their infinite humility. Cheers guys

“Do not use this company!”

I contacted, as an existing customer, to add a new EV car to my policy. How ever, because the car is vastly different to the car I currently drive I wanted to carry on using my current vehicle for my longer commutes for a month or so until I was familiar with all the technology in the new EV. After 3 web chats and 2 phone calls, Policy Expert confirmed that they do not provide multi car policy! So, I had to insure my new EV with another insurance company and keep my original insurance running with Policy Expert until I cancel. Policy Expert would then not send my NCB 20+yrs to my other insurance company because of insurance compliance! I pay my insurance annually and had 8 months left, but a charge of £60.00 applies because I had to cancel a policy that I really did not want to cancel, but, Policy Expert could not facilitate my request, so I had no alternative. So, £60 to cancel, who’s paying me for my time it’s taken to sort this out? The insurance industry is arrogant and self centred and cares little about the customer. Here I am, trying to be a sensible and caring road user and being penalised! What a total shambles!!!!

Took out car insurance. Took out the policy, after the cooling off period, they asked to see the log book, not a problem. Sent it over (after having to chase them to give it to them as their website crashed every time I used it!) then got a bill for £66 to adjust my policy. Confused I make a call to see what the problem is, I had put the wrong date we purchased the car (purchased the car over 5yrs ago!) the cost of the adjustment was a 1/4 of the policy in the first place. They dug around til they found something pathetic to charge for, with their explanation being that as we hadn’t owned the car as long as we said (a few months out) that we weren’t used to driving the car as much as we would of been had the date been correct, I’m not sure after 5yrs of owning and driving the car we can be more accustomed to driving the vehicle. To cancel the policy would of cost us over double. Want to make a complaint, don’t waste your time!!! Will never use again, in the long run certainly weren’t the cheapest insurers.

“Hung up after 30mins wait”

You can’t get hold of them if you have a problem or change of circumstances. I tried 3 times to contact to change my car as bought a new one, waited 30 mins for each of my 3 calls, first two rang out, final one was answered after 34 mins, spoke for 30 seconds to a moody lady then was cut off! No text, no attempt to call back. I just cancelled as it was less time consuming than trying to speak to someone. Deffo wouldn’t recommend

Don not use this company!!!!! They just cancelled my car insurance for the stupidest of reasons!!!!! They are out for your money!!! I dealt with a woman,  who was disgustingly rude and disrespectful making things up and trying to trick me into saying what she wanted to hear!!!!

“TERRIBLE customer service”

Have a simple change to make (reg number) on my existing car insurance---would think that was easy - NOT WITH THIS COMPANY. Tried on line - access to policy denied --tried calling - On hold for 25+ minutes & then cut off - tried chat line - no response. Have tried to contact this company for 2 days so cannot use the car because the insurance is invallid. If & when I eventually get through I expect they will charge me for the change even though I have been inconvenienced. I bitterly regret changing from my previous insurers. If I cannot get access to change a simple thing WHAT WOULD THEY BE LIKE IN AN EMERGENCY !!!

When my policy came up for renewal with Policy Expert they beat all competitor quotes and I got a really good dea. The orignal renewal quote was obviously higher but it was easy to call then up to discuss. The advisor on the phone was super helpful and friendly and it was a really quick and easy process. Luckily, I've not had to make any claims.

Zurich Insurance UK Ltd are paying in excess of £3,000 to repair my 4 month old Tesla and provide a Tesla hire care for 11 days as it was their client who damaged it. My car will have travelled 80 miles to and from Shorade Ltd Bristol to be repaied but Zurich complaints department say that I am not entitled to the cost of those journeys. This seems ridiculous to me and I want to fight them. Why should I be out of pocket irrespective of whether it is £10 or £10,000? Any thoughts please?
