“ex staff member warns against dealings with Octagon”

I have worked in cusrtomer services pretty much solidly for the past 10 years. I can honestly say that as a human being I was disgusted at the level of service I was asked to provide to Octagons unfortunate customers.

They would seem to cancel policies willy nilly, their favourite reason for doing this was non receipt of NCD. There are constant backlogs on this front and the mechanisms provided for the customers to get the details to them were sub standard to say the least. It was shocking the amount of policies cancelled because of their own malpractice. They must have raked in an absolute mint in cancellatio charges (at £50 a pop. To make this worse they would onlty advise that they had cancelled THE DAY AFTER leaving people driving illegally for a day!

On several occasions (being conservative)they would cancel policies because they failed to set up the credit agreements correctly on not only one but two occasions. When they did this, they would of course still take their £50 pound of flesh, but would also insist that the whole years premium be paid to them in three montly amounts (as they are not trusted to run their own credit thank God!)

In my view the whole operation is a way to get as many cancellation fees as possible, they also charge a nice £25 admin fee for amendments as well as a herty increase in premium. They would frequently refuse to cover people that had moved to some fairly respectable areas or bought sensible cars and again that would cost you £50.

Do not go near these people. You will get your fingers burnt! The staff turnover is ludicrasly high as everyone spent all day being shouted at (sometimes cried at) about their farsical operating standards.
