“Useless ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KamrynWoodruff427 on 18/11/2023

As someone said earlier, they are a rip off!! Very nice indeed, before you have to cancel a policy. Why would you not think that a household would have more than one car? Providing bad service to one person could mean you lose the business of other 2 or 3vehicles. We sold the vehicle that we had the insurance on it and they want £175 cancellation fee. All admin fees. Absolut rip off! We have other 2 vehicles registered with them, safe to say we will wait for the insurance to end and we will never eve use them again. ..not customer friendly, would and will not recommend! Don't even bother to reply with the same ... that you reply just to write something down. As it's absolutely useless to say "please contact us to come to a resolution", you should've done that on the phone earlier.

Trying to charge me £275 cancellation and administration fees the same day as they took a £121.00 payment on my monthly bill taking into account I'm paying them 1236 per year n I've had another quote by the same company with exactly the same details on the policy for £675.00 what a absolute utter disgrace.

“Worst insurance ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/06/2023

Changed my insurance with Goskippy to buisness end of February for an extra 98 quid and then cancelled beginning of April. Was still being charged the extra payments so rang them to try sort it out. First woman I spoke to repeated herself over 10 times, kept telling me it was the underwriters and said I wasn't listening until I repeated the exact conversation we had just had and then she hung up. I rang back to find out what was going on and spoke to someone else who contacted the underwriters and then came back to me. I was charged 50 by the underwriters to change to buisness, charged a 45 admin fee for ringing to change, then charged another 35 quid admin fee for changing again online. Was given a 41 quid refund but only had 6 quid because the admin fee was taken out of that. In total my 5 weeks buisness insurence was only 13 quid but I now have to pay 100 in fees so my monthly payments are staying the same. Absolute joke of a company and I will not be renewing with them. They need to be investigated for the ridiculous fees they are charging. Everyone should stay clear of this company. If I had known I would of rather paid extra for my insurance from a reputable company than this disgrace

“Doesn’t even deserve 1 star”

written by Berryuy195 on 01/02/2023

This company is the absolute worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. This company has cancelled insurance with no reasoning whilst taking extra payments from my bank. The customer service is a joke, nobody knows what they’re doing and nobody is competent at all. For the love of god I’ve never come across people who cannot answer simple questions. If you ring in you’ll constantly be fobbed off or just plainly cut off the phone. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! Awful company pay the extra money to go with a proper insurance company

“Avoid Go Skippy at all Costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SerenityMcLeod107 on 23/01/2023

Go Skippy insurance' refused to fufill it's obligations when my car was hit and damaged. I was fully comprehensive yet they refused to look at my car, repair my car, offer a courtesy car,or even allow me to claim through my policy. They flat out denied all requests but we're only interested in me continuing payments. Avoid Go Skippy Somerset Bridge Insurance Services or any other name this company is known by. Keep in mind I was happily paid my premiums each month earning no claims bonus and moved into an automatic renewal. It all changed and went unimaginably sour when my car was hit and needed repair.

“Worst insurance company ever!”

written by RickyWebber69 on 25/10/2022

Quoted £350 for the year.. then hit with a £50 admin fee and a £50 direct debit set up fee..guess they are 2 different types of admin! My first car engine blew up after 2 weeks explained this to them and got exactly the same model and year but told it would cost another admin fee of £35 to change the reg number… now paying £50 a month instead of the £29 I thought I would be paying…can’t cancel otherwise there will be even more cancellation fees and admin fees to pay..probably be charged an admin fee if they reply to this review! seems like I’m not the only one who had this experience. been driving 25 years and this is the worst experience I have ever had with an insurance company! Stay away! I will be not be renewing with them! Useless!

“Double standards”

written by cvFigueroa377 on 07/09/2022

Awful outfit - stay away. I booked car insurance with them through an internet site I have had no claim for over 20 years but a week after the cover started they sent a request saying I had to pay another £125 because I did not declare a claim. I explained I never made a claim, they alleged I was on the list of insurers as having made a no-fault claim. They asked me to get in writing confirmation that I had not made a claim in 2017, no other insurer has made this allegation I contacted Direct Line my insurer in 2017 and they confirmed someone had bumped into my parked car, admitted liability and their insurer had settled in full, saying they could not understand Go Skippy, after sending this confirmation from Direct Line Go Skippy then said I still had to pay another £135 despite previously saying if I got the confirmation I wouldn't. Go Skippy are an awful rogue broker, stay away from them

“Avoid at all cost”

Avoid at all cost. Took £300 pound only to cancel my policy a week later due to a discrepancy with a document. Watford Ins Co Europe Limited are the underwriters for GoSkippy so don't be fooled by there name. They then told me there would be no refund. Sent me a document stating Its would be cancled on the 14th them another document stating it will be cancled on the 31st looking for any way to take your money. All insurance companies are doing this now, they all have underwriters. Just be carful when looking for insurance. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID

This is one of the worst insurers I had to deal with... very unprofessional, not doing their job right, complicating things and in general just rubbish. I had to constantly chase every day what was happening with my claim. It was recorded wrong and just complicated things and till now I suffer from their bad decisions. Hard to get anything out of them, been ignored and fobbed off. Very poor service and lack of support. Would not recommend to anyone. Other associated names / companies with this broker and insurer are - dobenham - vavista - eldon insurance - somerset bridge insurance services

“Could not care a less organisation.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 228McCracken on 22/05/2020

After several years with this company who have traded under GoSkippy, Somerset Bridge Insurance, Eldon Insurance etc.etc. they declined to insure our car without giving any reason for doing so after my policy expired on the 18th May, leaving my elderly/disabled parents unable to leave their home. It is only because of the COVID situation that the matter is not so bad as they are in a high risk group otherwise I do not know what we would have done, with the car now being stuck in the drive. ( Any new insurer will ask if you have been refused insurance before and why). I am hearing impaired and experienced many problems over the years by ignorant staff who were unwilling to communicate with me in a manner suitable to myself, which is my right under the Equality Act 2010. I believe this is the reason but they will not admit it. After many attempts to get the reason I was given a complaints email address by a Team Manager from GoSkippy and my emails were returned as not delivered 3 times. However, using a different email address without mentioning my policy number, the email got to them .I BELIEVE THEY WERE BLOCKING MY EMAILS !. Having got back and informing the Team Manager of the above he said he had given me the wrong complaints address ?. He gave me another and I got through once and got a reply but when I queried the comments in their reply the email came back again as undelivered. I have never had a claim over a 14 year period, I have never had a claim with this firm, I have not got a claim pending with this firm ,so why refuse to renew ?. I have been told it is because it is to do with new criteria rules amended by the new insurers. The new insurers are the same as the old ones only trading under a different name and my circumstances have not changed over the years. They will not reply now and I have to allow 8 weeks for them to do so before the matter can be taken to the FCA with more to follow because of discrimination ,but I hope any reader will get the picture of how this firm operates if not by my complaint then from the many others listed.

written by leechaplin on 11/05/2020

They may be a few quid cheaper on their premiums, but they claw that money back through charges. I changed my number plate - £50 charge. Updated my details - £50 charge. Sold my car - £101 charge. In all the time I’ve been driving, this is the worst insurance company I’ve dealt with, and that’s saying something. The service is rubbish and their system is always “down” so they keep getting you to call back another time. Not good when your policy has to be up to date by law. Avoid at all costs!

Having been involved in an incident with a go Skippy policy holder I have been passed to their claims handlers (Eldon Insurance / Somerset Bridge) Liability is not in dispute, the driver was on the wrong side of the road, confirmed she was liable apologised and passed me on to Go Skippy to deal. As I work in insurance I have provided them with all the details of the claim including photos, estimates and witness statements but just keep getting fobbed off. They will not even inspect my vehicle so I can decide what to do with it. AVOID GO SKIPPY AT ALL COSTS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING THIRD PARTIES

“HORRENDOUS CHARGES - CANCELLING POLICY - VAN INSURANCE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/03/2020

I took out this insurance for which I paid a large sum for the deposit, less than 2 weeks later you too another sum for the monthly installment, (dont understand the date as it was not agreed) anyhow. Having completed my on line application, I omitted the SP30 A HUMAN ERROR, if I was attempting to do something dishonest I would have not declared my previous claim.. would I not??? to receive an email from yourself stating you are cancelling this insurance and going to charge me for this is disgraceful. You gave me no option to pay and additional premium. Looking at the reviews this happens quite frequently and appears your underwriters and you as a company do this very frequent. How does this help small businesses?? where is the human element in this. Could it be the lack of training on your behalf, it is your staff are on a commission structure or is it because your staff are not based within the UK for the majority and are reading from a script. This was certainly my experience this morning when my call was being taken by an operator of yours in South Africa. I was not given the opportunity to speak to the underwriters, thats disgraceful and you should be appalled at this. I have to pay for you to cancel my insurance!!! PROVIDENT INSURANCE whom my new care is insured through were amazing at changing this with a charge for premium and a small admin feel unlike yours. I will NEVER use your organisation again and will at every opportunity make people aware of this.

“Absolutely terrible customer service ”

written by ogDickinson283 on 21/02/2020

I absolutely agree with the reviews here. I wish I listened before taking out amd insurance policy with them. He was correct there is so many organisations involved you loose tack who you spoke with. They dont liaise with each other, the policy was under my sisters name i had to get my sister to call each one and give authority for me to speak. The phone line is always down they answer them put the phone down on you after hours of waiting. The customer service is terrible the staff either aren’t trained appropriately or dont have clue what they are talking about. They all say different requirements when i say the persons name i was speaking too they say we dont have amyone by that name. Never will we purchase an insurance policy from these services. Wiuld rather go with direct line or company where they take their customers seriously and with respect

“The worst decision I ever made.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LiviaAbbott324 on 09/02/2020

The worst decision I ever made was signing up with this company! I did a price comparison on moneysupermarket and Go Skippy offered the "cheapest" quote. I was very happy and signed on. Many months later, i was forced to cancel the insurance because i could not pay the premium due to the loss of my job. The premium was £123. Go Skippy responded by slamming me with a £219.28 fee for cancellation et cetera. As if that was not bad enough, my new insurers called to confirm my NCB with Go Skippy and they were told to do a proper check on me and other information regarding me was divulged which my new insurers did not ask for. It was like a very bitter ex trying to get back at you. To crown it all, i have been receiving numerous emails and letters from Go Skippy threatening to hand over the debt of £219.38 to the Insurance Collection Bureau and a default will be registered against my credit file. I am dumbfounded to say the least. Never again! UPDATE: I have just been on the phone with an Agent at Go Skippy. Plans have been made to pay off the £219.38. I politely asked that Go Skippy stop sending threatening letters and emails to me. The agent i spoke to blatantly told me, while trying unsucessfully to stifle her laughter, that they can not stop sending the letters. I guess i am a joke then?

“Stay away!”

written by Chrisspence555 on 07/01/2020

After 23 years of driving I’ve never had to deal with such a DEMANDING and incompetent insurance company! Then to top it off after trying to make a payment over the phone my bank blocked my card because to cut costs goskippy use Nigerian call centres! I’m now getting inundated with conn phone calls and emails and stuck waiting for a new bank card! Then there’s the the demands, so far I’ve been asked for photos of- Full driving licence No claims discount Full Log book Proof of address Proof of earnings Proof of employment Proof of employment qualifications Photo of the cars vin number Photo of front of the car Photo of back of the car And who knows what else Oh and I must not forget to tell you about their inability to open email attachments in full resolution, I sent my licence and ncd over a dozen times. It’s like they are trying to get me to cancel my insurance with them so they can charge me massively overpriced cancellation charges! So stay away My next step will be asking for a refund, which I really don’t expect to get.

“Disgusting”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 371Black on 27/02/2019

The MOST disgusting company I’ve ever even heard of. I have no idea how they are still running, they’re literally a ghost insurance that you pay ridiculous amounts of money to and they don’t actually insure your vehicle. I am shocked by the amount of bad reviews but I’m also not surprised at all because they’re horrendous! They told my boyfriend that he owed £300 and then 2 days later told him he owed £1200! Company is in shambles, the staff have ZERO compassion or any personality whatsoever and just try to argue with you. A joke of a company. They may be the cheapest overall quote on gocompare but they request unnecessary money for changing the smallest of things. Even admiral is cheaper than them and they’re usually around £1000 extra, even that’s cheaper overall and waaay less stressful than this sorry excuse of a company. I can’t even put into words how disgusting this goskippy is, they’re just awful.

I've reported them to FOS, I urge anyone else to do the same. Stories from them, calls being cut off when they feel like it. Horrendous all round really. As for their google reviews, they get their friends to put up good reviews! Charges for no reason, how on earth they're still trading is beyond belief. Report them!

My brother got insurance for my friend and she was added driver to his policy. It's all my brothers detail but with her name as the added driver to comprehensive insurance. It came to £450, paid 1 monthly installment then next month of £45 but the payments are direct debit coming out of my account as friend don't have bank account. I got letters to sign my name and address and the amount of credit and sign if I agree to the credit or loan. But I only agreed to let my friend use my bank to pay insurance, so I signed papers in my name.  I need to know that if I cancel the policy will I have to pay all arrears? I signed the forms even though they are not my debt. I phoned them and spoke to a lady, and explained the forms etc. She told me not to worry, I'm not signing it to say I took the loan for my friend I found this rather strange. Will I have to pay outstanding monies because I signed the paper?

If you have signed a contract to pay a loan it is legally binding until the year of insurance is up. If you cancel it could result I. Them wanting the outstanding payments as a bulk payment otherwise it can affect your credit rating, your brother's insurance will be cancelled and it could affect him getting quotes for a new insurance. I suggest you phone GoSkippy and Premium Choice who provide the finance for GoSkippy policies. Make sure your brother is present with his policy details and make sure you have the loan agreement account number. They may not discuss the policy with you as he is the policy holder. This is because of data protection. If all else fails, contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They are very helpful, have a lot of clout and very knowledgeable as most of them are retired professionals.

It looks like you have have signed a permission of use form, this is just to say you give permission for your account to be used, kind of a fraud prevention. Just the same when you use another persons card for phone purchases, some companies require the card holder to be present and give the relevent information.

You will be charged, I was charged a massive amount when I cancelled my insurance through them, for things I never knew existed! spent a fortune on calls getting through to them, weigh it up and see if it's cheaper to pay the remainder (two months) or to cancel, I wouldn't use that company again if they paid me, hope it doesn't cost you too much :)

I had Insurance with Goskippy and they cancelled my insurance after two months that was paid and refused to return the deposit (£320)and charges me £100 cancellation fee plus various other admin charges that came up and in the end I owed them money. Speaking to them via the telephone is a nightmare and no one really knows what is going on and the answer always is we will get back to you and they never do. In fact after I received the letter to say my Insurance was being cancelled they did not advise the finance company at all and nobody knew that they had cancelled it when I called. Really bad news and stay away !

AFAIK you are always entitled to cancel your policy with any insurance company, I think goSkippy as with most companies charge to do this. Usually you lose any no claims bonus gained from that policy. You can change the car without cancelling for a fee of £50, I recently did this, the new cars premiums were lower by £40 pound and goSkippy didn't charge me the £10 difference.
