“Efficient and easy to use”

I was a little bit dubious having read some of the reviews here on General Accident car insurance but we couldn't be happier. I wanted to say how easy, efficient and helpful GA were in setting up a new car insurance for my son. By far the best I have come across. My daughter took out a car insurance policy with them several months ago. Now suddenly someone has made a claim against her over 6 months after the alleged incident. once paid for we were told to upload NCD we did but it wasn't' on the right form. Spent pounds ringing . Told to upload cancellation documents of previous insurerer, did still not right had to have NCD and cancellation letter on SAME page ridiculous. Told they would cancel but they didn't' and till today still had our money. Very difficult to get hold of anyone. No help at all Avoid dealing with them. If I'd known General Accident were in any way related to QuoteMeHappy (which is also awful according to the reviews) I wouldn't have gone near them. Alas I didn't realise until emails sent from General Accident systems came signed from the QuoteMeHappy team. The service is awful - they won't talk to you on the phone after your cooling off period has elapsed - when you call you have to enter your policy number and if it is old your can't get through to anyone. I have had nothing but trouble with this company. I have had to ring the helpline 3 times in the past 3 weeks (2 of those this week alone) - this is a telephone number that you can also only use for the first 35 days of the policy! It would seem their automated system does all the 'work' - work meaning constantly screw up. I had only been with the company for two weeks when someone bumped into my very old car at night and didn't leave a note/come and tell me. It was a write off. GA were very helpful straightaway and within ten days they had sorted my claim and paid me a very good price after having the car looked at outside my house. They cancelled my policy without sending me a warning email which they said they would. I attempted to upload the documents they asked for twice, and was never sent an email saying it wasn't satisfactory. Terrible customer service and will never use ANY of their products again. Will active dissuade friends to even consider this terrible performance. General accident are absolutely awful. AVOID AS AN INSURER. My named driver was crashed into and they other party took full responsibility (luckily). “Appalling Customer Service - Take your money and run!!!!!”

I renewed my insurance with GA for a second year via Confused.com Asked for protected no claims as per the previous year. They took my money happily and afterward taking my payment sent me my new schedule but with no protected NCD. They have now confirmed it in an email. FYI I finally had to cancel my policy because I could not get them to look at the problems - I used their facebook site to highlight the issues

Eventually (I assume because the facebook site is so public) they admitted it was all their fault and they would refund in full with no penalties but they still owe me about £30 and I am still chasing

The facebook site for them is a good indicator of their customer service so if you were in doubt have a look at some of the customer comments- interestingly they never enter into a conversation on the site but ask you to contact their helpdesk quoting facebook - it then seems to escalate the issues.
