had a cheap car and got cheap insurance with them (GA) then I got a better car and tried to amend policy online... a lot harder than life should be. I email them I wait 24 hours for response wanted to change car and go from 3rd party to fully comp, turns out this is not possible for GA they suggested after a day of waiting for a response to my email I should cancel policy and start a fresh. General Accident have taken incompetence to a new level. We reported a claim four weeks ago, no calls or email from them, I've had to continually chase. They then lied and told my wife that the garage had spoken to me on a certain date (which did not happen). Perhaps the most frustrating thing is the fact that whenever you call them it takes on average 45 minutes on hold to get through, what an absolute joke. I've recently gone with general accident for my car insurance, very decent price and i haven't recieve such outstanding customer service in a long time!!! They were struggling to take my payment over the phone so instead of giving up they problem solved until they found a solution! and they stayed on the phone and supported me through the whole process! Please heed this advice - Do not enter into any dealings with this company. Their customer service is a total sham. On attempting to prove my one years No Claims Discount I found them to be exceedingly unhelpful and required every minor detail when it was obvious that the evidence had been presented. General accident have to be the worst. Insurer on the market. No phone support after the first month, and emails are replied to within weeks rather than days. I had been insured with general accident for just over a year, I purchased a new vehicle and informed general accident about the change and they gave me the new premium quote of £120 a month (I was 19) which seemed fair so I continued the policy. I have been through absolutely hell during the time when I was trying to get in touch with General Accident Claims team to follow up on my claim. I made a claim on 28th of April 2015 following an accident, sent them confirmation from the police saying it was Not my fault, and a diagram how the accident happened. Great start to our claim but boy there is no customer service once you hit a snag. The hold music rings in your ears throughout the night as you listen to it all day waiting for a response from anyone. Oh and as for the customer service department they can't actually offer you any. Our car has been in the workshop for 7 weeks and has not been satisfactorily completed yet however the insurers don't take any responsibility for that even though it is with their prefered repairers. “Appalling Experience Avoid this Rip off Company”

Refused to accept my NCD which I provided 3 times. Refused to phone my previous insurance company to confirm my NCD. Harassing me with umpteen emails detailing their fines and cancellation fees for not providing them with proof of my NCD. Kept asking for my NCD in different formats. I can't just believe such a horrible company could exist! I just wanted to take a policy from them, that's all! I sent a photo of documents that showed no claim discount, like everybody else, but GA rejected the normal .jpg photo, saying they couldn't see it on their computer. “Not What It Appears To Be”

I had no idea until after I had taken out a policy that they describe themselves as 'an online insurer' which turns out to mean that it is impossible to speak to anyone by phone and you are at their mercy waiting for a reply to any email. I had a policy with them and changed car part through the year. I have done this many times in the past and it has been an easy process to swap the car on the policy (WITH ANY OTHER INSURER). I would advise anyone reading this to avoid General Accident!! Had a small accident on a roundabout involving another car. Reported it and still after a year on I've heard nothing different. Everytime I ring it's excuse after excuse, I've been waiting for the other parties insurance to authorise the accident as a 50/50 for a year now!
