BEWARE EXPRESS INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After paying the initial £60.22 deposit, I cancelled my policy 25 days in. Express sent me a letter advising £117.21 was still owed. I asked for a breakdown to be sent to me along with a copy of the page that states what the cancellation fee is (my documentation stated £40). That was in March 2013. I heard nothing from them, despite calling them twice to get an update, but on both occasions their "system was down". They agreed to call me back when everything was back up and running.

The next correspondence I received was on 23rd September 2013 from ScotCall Debt Collectors!!!! During that 6 month period, from March to September, I received no phone call, no email, no letter or no text message from Express with the cost breakdown I requested.

Ironically, I did receive letters, text messages, phone calls and emails from ScotCall, requesting I pay them £117.21 immediately!!!

Finally, I received the cost breakdown on 2nd October 2013. For some reason, still not explained to me, they actually charged me for 47 days insurance rather than 25. This doesn't include the £35 finance fee, £44.50 in extras and the now £50 cancellation fee they also charged me.

So all in all, they quoted approximately £300 for my annual car insurance, and I ended up paying over £170 for 25 days worth.

They are not able to send or receive emails and I was not able to pay the agreed final balance online, only payable via debit card over the phone!

The advisor I spoke to last did at least attempt to solve the problem so credit to her but she had to speak to their accounts department along with 2 managers before getting an answer to me, which still didn't tally with what I was charged.

All in all, a terrible experience...
