Avoid this bunch of "ethical" cowboys.
We paid £1200 for the privilege of insuring our 18-year old son on our policy, so that he could have 1 years discount (50%) before insuring his own car.
Point 1 - the discount only applies from the 19th birthday, so we had to insure for 16 months;
Point 2 - when he tried to insure a P-reg car (1996), the Co-Op refused to insure the car as it was "over 15 years old". This is despite the website stating they will insure cars up to 30 years old. However, Young Drivers (i.e. below 25 - but you can have "Young Driver" insurance at any age - work THAT out) will only be insured on cars up to 15 years old. The discount is non-transferable. So, he effectively has no discount.
Point 3 - enter the registration of the car manually on the website rather than use the search function and it WILL give a quote! However, the quote with 50% discount is still more than some quotes from other providers with NO discount!!
Point 4 - If you do insure your own car with the %50 discount, you will not accrue anything in the first year of your own policy - you start accruing NCD from scratch.
Point 5 - the "Manager" we spoke to knew less than the Operators and seemed to have difficulty understanding English and the point we were trying to make; she refused to give us her name and stated that the discount was effectively "doing us a favour" (for which we paid £1200...), as other providers "Don't all do this". Oh - don't expect them to call you back in a hurry either. And they will argue black is white - we had a print-out of the quote we got from their own website and she said that we couldn't have.....
An absolute nightmare to deal with - so much for the "ethical trading" tag-line. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
