I had a car accident just before Christmas 2013. I immediately reported it to Churchill Car Insurance and was assured that I would be informed of the progress every step of the way. After returning my Claim Form on 13th January 2014, I heard nothing from Churchill, and it took virtually five months for my claim to be finalised. I had to keep ringing them for updates, waiting from 10-15 minutes in a queue, before anyone answered. Over the five months, my claim was transferred from the First Claim Dept, to the Second Claim Dept, and then into a Third Claim Dept. Each member of their personnel I spoke to, told me that they had no information, or that they hadn't contacted the other Insurance company, and would chase them. Then one day I received a "Claimant Form" directly from the court, and instigated by the Claimant's solicitor, demanding monies, and accusing me of negligent driving. I immediately phoned Churchill, and was told to forward it on to them, as it was just a "procedure", and they would deal with it. I returned the form immediately. Then I waited for an update. I then received a letter dated 8th May, informing me that they had paid the Claimant, and the case was closed. A few days after that letter, I received a "Judge's Claimant Form", again through the Claimant's solicitor, demanding monies. Again I phoned Churchill, and was told, rather offhandedly that I was to ignore it, as Churchill had paid the Claimant, and closed the case on 13th May. I decided to ignore Churchill's advice, and sent the form back to the court with a letter, thinking that now the Claimant had been paid, that I could put the stressful ordeal behind me. But my nightmare hadn't ended, because on 12th June, I received another lengthy letter from the court, informing me that they had not received the "Claimant Form", and that they were going to take legal proceedings against me. I was so upset and angry, and asked myself the question, why am I still receiving correspondence from the court, when I've been told the case has closed? When I rang Churchill, they couldn't give me a reason why I had received this letter, and told me that they would speak to the Claimant's Legal Dept. I have requested that they send me a letter of confirmation informing me that this has been dealt with, and the case has finally been closed. Unfortunately my car insurance expired whilst my claim was ongoing, and I had no choice but to insure my vehicle with Churchill again. But I will never insurance my car or home with them ever again.
