I have purchased a car insurance policy through compare the market and accorn Insurance came out fairly reasonable for the area I live in as well as my past claim history with my previous insures (Asda and Direct line). “Awful car insurance and service ”

This company is awful. I've got a car inurement with them at the beginning of the year. I've changed my car 3 times this year and the first time they've cancelled my insurance for an old car and got me an insurance on the one I was changing onto. They charged me admin fees of £50 for it and had to pay a deposit once again. They never gave me a reason why just a normal vehicle change wasn't made. The worst customer service ever. Will be finding a new insurer when my policy has finished. Very unprofessional They will use every opportunity to squeeze money out of you, interest and extortionate admin fees. I've just received a letter from your representatives (Haven) in the form of an attached email demanding documents without stipulating what documents and a further threat in a separate email that my insurance will be cancelled in 7 days. Are you the Insurance mafia or something - what exactly will you achieve by antagonising customers in this way? I will be taking this matter to the Insurance Ombudsman to show how terrible your representatives behave - this is the UK, we have the 'rule of law' here. Making threats to cancel a person's insurance policy without giving specific reasons will lead your unfortunate customers to think your out to get as much money as you can through devious means. Shocking !!!

“40 minute hold time for customer service”

Called customer services but no answer after waiting on hold for 45 minutes!!! I pay these guys 10% of the average UK salary every month (to essentially do nothing) and they can't even pick up the phone... An absolute joke. What on earth are they spending all our money on? Because it sure as hell isn't customer service.... A Joke. AVOID - contacting my bank and FCA as not even sure these guys are real?? I've tried every number but just rings out. The hold time you have mentioned is certainly too long to wait and does not represent the commitment we show to our customers ensuring that all call answer times at Acorn Insurance are well below the time you state.

In fact in we aim to get to every customer within 30 seconds of you dialling our number.

“Worst car insurance ever dealt with !! ”

I purchased car insurance through compare the market with this acorn insurance ! I received a mossed call and a message on Friday to validate insurance so tried to call back as couldn't get through !! On many of occasions I have found this company a joke the first 6 months iv had no problem at all but wen the pay date in my new job changed they were very unhelpful and told me the can't change the payment date to wen I wanted but wen I was left with no choice not to pay my car insurance they were all of a sudden helpful saying they can change my payments to wen I wanted but I had to pay £55 pound in late payment fees and change of payment date! A shocking insurance company that tell you are insured and then 48 hours pass by a letter stating that my policy had been canceled and they kept a fair old wack of my deposit. My financial circumstances changed and I called them to ask if I could pay for my car insurance ONE day late (As my payday changed). They wouldn't accept this and issued a cancellation of the policy. I only asked for ONE day extra to pay and have never asked for any previous extension - This extension of ONE day was the only extension I have asked for. Acorn insurance were quick to take a £300 DEPOSIT out of my bank account, then write to me 7days later saying there is NO INSURANCE COVER IN PLACE! After taking a £300 deposit out of your bank anyone would automatically believe their policy is now active, however after driving nearly 300miles i recieve a letter stating i am not insured and no cover has EVER been in place!! I am trying to get a quote and hopefully insurance for my new car. I have never heard of these guys but it seems like they are specialist and don't insure the normal guy with loads of no claims bonuses. I am not that normal guy and have a bit of a bad license and after speaking to these guys they gave me exactly what I needed, this review makes no sense, they quite clearly don't want a 72 with no claims or convictions, they are trying to quote for people who cant get or struggler to get decent insurance quotes. These reviews make it harder to make a judgment, and certainly don't help me which is what I thought this site would do, I am going to go with them anyway!

After taking card payment for your deposit, you would be asked to give them a call in order to validate your claims. You would then be asked a lot of personal deep questions in order to find a reason to cancel your policy. £25 will be deducted from your deposit due to no reason of yours. I was charged £78.75 for cancelling within 48 hrs. No documents had been drawn up I didn't even have a policy no. No details had been validated. Yet they had the cheek to charge me for cancelling!!! They do need investigating

I paid a deposit today.... called them up after emailing. Shot my premiums up now they threatning me... wont let me cancel and are charging me to cancel on top. I dont even think im insured even though they saying provisionally.

“£18,000!”

Just got a quote online in excess of £18,000.00. I have 11 years no claims bonus and my son has 1 year no claims bonus. My son is 19 and in full time education (university). Because he is between 17-24 and male he is automatically classed as high risk. “Driving conviciton insurance”

I got a driving conviction, quite a bad one, I still feel bad saying it out loud. Anyway I finished my ban and started looking for insurance, I was really not looking forward to paying extra and people looking down there noses at me, but luckily I found Acorn.
