Having had car insurance with the AA for years, I found the premiums just going up and up every year even though I have 24 years no claims.
Another Insurance Company offered me the same insurance for a third of the price and said they would even pay the cancellation charge of £30 which is what the AA quote online as being their cancellation charge.
So, I sent a very polite letter with my policy and asked them to terminate the agreement and that I would be happy to pay the £30.00 cancellation charge. I also cancelled the direct debit as I know how these companies like to just keep taking your money anyway. Thought that would be the end of it.
Oh no, I get a letter stating that I owe them £127.00 to leave them. I telephoned them and was put on hold three times during the conversation and I got absolutely no where with them apart from that the fee was based on cancellation fees, direct debit cancellation fees, non refundable legal line fees etc etc none of which were detailed in the letter. They insist that I must pay this amount. Is there anyone out there who knows if they can get away with this? Their customer services are absolutely dreadful.
The money I would have saved by switchiing insurance companies has now been irradicated. I will never ever have any thing to do with the AA again, and will urge all my family and friends to leave them too.
Nasy nasty company to deal with if you are trying to leae them!!
