Buying car insurance is tedious but the advisor was friendly and extremely helpful going through everything and explaining anything that I didn't understand. I was very happy with service I received and will confidently recommend A Plan, Isle of Wight to family and friends.

been with a-plan a number of years,up until this year was quite happy,got my quote but monthly payment schedule came to a slightly higher amount, 15 letters later and another emailed payment schedule, amount still higher than initial quote, was promised a £25 gift voucher as a good will gesture which I still have not received, very disappointed with this years service, although the staff are friendly and normally efficient normally I would pay my insurance up front over 4 payments to avoid interest but this year it has caused them confusion because I decided to make the payments over 11 months, hopefully next year if I decide to continue with their service it will go a lot smother.

I'm 51. I wanted to add an extra car to my insurance. The car was a Maserati. After taking the details of my new car, the A-Plan representative called me back and asked if i had experience of a car of this power before. I'm 51...does this really warrant this question? So, he followed up with a scenario of someone "coming into money" and only having previously having experience of driving a 1.0L car (not me). For goodness sake....does this scenario really apply to ask these questions? Surely the analytics on a 51 year old with full no claims doesn't require a patronising set of questions and scenario setting like this. £1,700 quotation later forced me to shop elsewhere for my Maserati & Range Rover insurance. Yes, that's right...I took my existing business away and achieved a price of less than 50% of the quote for one car but for both. Going direct rather than through a broker with this style DOES make sense.

Staff are very helpful and to the point. It is very important that all aspects of insurance are covered leaving no loopholes for the unwary to fall into. They appeared to be " on the customers side" which is very unusual in this day and age! It is very nice to speak directly to the staff "'face to face " instead of on the phone.

Communication great when they want your money. However they hassle you every day via email, text and telephone. As soon as you question them on their prices and take your business somewhere else they become very rude, unhelpful and awkward to deal with. We have had all our insurances through them, but not now. Now we have taken our business away from this shambles.

I've been using parkstone branch who deal with taxi insurance since 2014 Today for the first time in three years informed them of a new address They wanted to charge me £25 per taxi and then there own admin charge total £75 There then reduced it to £50 like they were doing me a favour I explained to them that my doctors surgery have just done the same thing for free They have lost my business now when it comes to renewal approx £3500 a year for a £50 charge

The staff are lovely at my local branch & I am always offered a tea or coffee. When I had my claim they did everything for me too, old fashioned customer service. Well done!

I emailed the Welwyn Garden City branch to inform them of a change of address. I received a reply, asking me to contact the branch. I pointed out that I had just done so in an email, and asked them to call me.
I did not receive a call back, so a few days later I called the branch. I was informed that "someone" had opened my email, but then deleted it without taking any action.
I was charged for the change of address, even though I received shoddy service.
Furthermore, the controls at the branch are clearly adequate. This was a relatively minor email - what if it had been a more serious issue, such as notification of the death of a driver?

Over priced been with a plan 10 years car insurance gone up from £280 to £900 was told this because I changed address no with Hastings £380 .all so manager in shop rude .

Charged over the odds was working away from home, so the dreaded auto renewal kicked in,when I got home looked at other companies, I was paying £160 a month I got better cover with another company for £30 a month!!!! tried to cancel my coverage they tried scare tactics to stop me, I threatened to get advice they said ok then wanted more money out me, I rang to find out how they wanted the extra cash after I gave plenty of noticed an paid up, they said they would get back because the guy couldnt deal with it, never heard anything until it was collection agency with an extra £50 again on top for fee's. rip of merchants who use bully boy tactics to get what they can from you. Stay away from this company!!!!

Had a very disappointing experience with A-Plan. I needed to change the vehicle on my policy, and was told it would cost £80. I did several comparison sites comparing my existing car to my new car and there was only ever £5 difference. I contacted Aviva directly and they quoted me for both vehicles with only £3 difference. When I told A plan this, they said the division that worked with Aviva is different and does not compete. So I therefore chose to cancel. To which I was going to incur around £80 penalty again. They told me I had to email my request to cancel and after my call a week later to my email they had 'missed' it. Then the calculation of days was incorrect, they charge Admin fee, commission fee and then Aviva also charge an admin fee. Will never go back and never recommend. ON top of all this, I must have spent over an hour on the telephone with them sorting all this out.

Had a man contact me thought it would be another script driven robot but I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst I did get a cheaper quote elsewhere and took my custom to another company this should be of no negative reflection towards these guys. My advisor went above and beyond to get the best deal he could offer always came true on his promises to call back etc if his supervisor or boss is reading this you should promote him to your level he deserves it. If they had matched or lowered the quote to reflect the rac I would have 100% gone with these chaps.

Competitive prices but the staff are robotic and it is the company's fault. They all wear the same uniform, drink out of the same 'A Plan' mugs, answer the phone in the same way, sit in the terrible fish bowl offices and seem to rely on old fashioned paper quotation forms rather than a computer system. The look and feel of the office is more religious sect than insurance broker. Whilst in the process of going through a quotation with the branch manager I happened to start speaking with one of his staff members - he shot her a look as if to say get back to work and it was obvious they are heavily targeted/not allowed to engage in chit chat. I felt dreadfully uncomfortable. They are clearly trying to deliver a good customer experience but need to remember that it isn't all about uniforms and rules; people are people and if I, as a customer, want to chat with your friendly staff for 30 seconds there is no harm done. Let them off the lead a little. Let them have a personality - I heard every staff member answer the phone in the same way and that only comes from the top. Liven the place up a little! It isn't the 70s anymore

Myself and my brother, who initially recommended me, have been clients of the Bletchley branch for many years and every renewal time we have nothing but praise about the way we are treated. Letters are sent out a couple of weeks before and new premiums are clearly stated. If they feel your current insurer is not the most suitable they will search the market and tell you the outcome which avoids you having to do it yourself. Utterly trustworthy and to cap it all you can always negotiate a better deal to save yourself a few pounds on the final figure. Highly recommended and always something to look forward too when the time for renewal comes round unlike many of the other so called competitors

had a new quotation on 19th of October for a new renewal that is due for the 15th of November. I agreed to the quote and they offerd to print off my new cover note.I said that I would be in to pay shortly. today on the 3rd of November ihave had a telephone call to chase an overdue debt for a new policy that starts on the 15th of november

I have been a customer of a-plan for a number of years (7 with my old car), recently obtained home insurance from them and just recently obtained a quote for a car I have just bought. The quote I received turned out to be quite a bit higher than a quotation from a reputable insurer. I was quite surprised as I actually never had to shop around in order to get great deals previously. I was about to give up but sent an email and the team bent over backwards to provide a competitive quotation which I have taken. They are such a friendly company and the customer service is outstanding. I have had one non fault claim with them in the past where a barrier failed and fell on my car - they sorted everything with no hassle. Tried and tested - highly recommend them.

Based on the good reviews on here, and having received a flyer from them, I called A-Plan for a quote. I ran through all the usual questions and they got back to me the next day with a quote of £399 for a policy with Aviva. That was despite me telling them that I am currently insured with Aviva and my renewal quote is £269. Not exactly a bargain.
