We reserved a Full size vehicle from Thrifty online for pick up at the Denver Airport two months in advance and paid a $700 deposit. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle we were told that the vehicle we had reserved was not available and had no choice but to upgrade to a larger vehicle for and additional $25/day. When we returned the vehicle at the end of the week, we were told that they had no record of the $700 deposit, my credit card would be charged over $1500, and no one on site could help me. I would have to call Customer service on Monday. Customer service told me they had no record of the $700 deposit and they only had a signed contract from us for the full amount of the larger vehicle. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was denied. When I complained about being forced to upgrade, I was told that the Denver site had plenty of full size vehicles available that day and that it was my own fault that we upgraded! Turns out the agents work on commission and will lie to you to get you to spend more money. It makes me sick to think of how many people get tricked by this company everyday! The attitude of all their employees, from the desk agents to the Corporate Customer Service department is repulsive. I will never again rent from Thrifty and I will make sure everyone knows how poorly they treat their customers.
