At Munich airport Thrifty and Dollar are represented by a company called Terstappen. There are many adverse reviews concerning this company and mine is one more. I rented a car for 1 week in December 2012 and was sent a bill for "damage" to it in may 2013. The following extract from my letter to them summarises the situation: Thank you for your letter of 22nd May 2013 notifying me of an extra charge relating to the above rental. However, the contents of your letter are unacceptable for the following reasons: 1. In fact no accident or incident occurred during the rental period in question and the condition of the vehicle was verified at the time of return by myself, my passengers and the agent who checked the car in at Munich airport. No damage was evident at that time 2. The rental of the vehicle took place from 15th to 22nd December 2012 but the detailed analysis and the creation of the invoice did not take place until 15th May 2013 – an elapsed period of some five months. It is unreasonable and unacceptable to attribute damage reported in May 2013 to a rental period so far in the past 3. Your charges have been made without any prior discussion with me, without photographs or other evidence of the damage, and without any quotation or advance agreement. Under these circumstances I shall be glad if you will reverse the charge and reimburse my credit card accordingly. I received a response from the company which rejected my claim, refused to provide any further evidence or information - so my credit card was debited accordingly.
