Had a 10 day car rental with Scotties in New Zealand which I had booked through Holiday Autos, picking up the car from Queenstown Airport. On arrival we rang the number provided to organise the shuttle to pick us up and take us to our car which was not parked at the airport ( we understood this from the booking) . When I rang there seemed to be some confusion over the booking and it took about 10 minutes to sort out that we did indeed have a car. We then waited another probably 20 minutes for someone to come and pick us up. When the shuttle arrived it was explained to us that they were an agent for Scotties and that was why there was the initial confusion. The lady who came to get us was very pleasant and once we arrived at the car, processed the documentation without any issue. the car however, was another matter. It was supposed to be a late model Ford Escape or equivalent. We ended up with a Very old (- about 10 years with 170,000 k's ) huge Prado. Have had rental cars in NZ before and they haven't been new however, this car had definitely had a tough life with nearly every panel scratched or dented. Don't get me wrong, we weren't that concerned with its looks- pretty hard to be accused of doing any damage to a car like this but it was a lot bigger than we wanted and it was very thirsty when it came to filling it with petrol and not easy to park. Mechanically- had a few issues starting it at times and the alternator light would come on and off. I understand that you can't always have exactly what you request but since I booked the car in May thought I might have a good chance of getting what we asked for. There was also some confusion when we dropped the car off. We returned it to where we originally picked it up but the only person there didn't have any idea what was going on. After a few phone calls we were told to go somewhere else to drop off. Luckily we didn't have far to go but as we had a plane to catch we were getting a little pressed for time. Once we had returned it we were asked how were we getting to the airport? Again, this was supposed to be part of the service. Luckily he kindly drove us to our destination. It appeared that the original agent was not going to be working with Scotties anymore and that is why we were sent somewhere else. Yes we had a car, it got us from A to B but there really was a degree of difficulty involved.

2 Things here we have changed our provider and are in the process of changing the older Pajero for two Brand new SUV
