Picked up a Fiat Punto from Maggiore Car Hire at Olbia airport. Had ordered a Panda but was upgraded.

Maggiore staff, both at pick up and drop off were really charming and very speedy. The damage report was completely accurate (a lesson for Goldcar!)and the car was fully fuelled, clean and tidy.

The Punto was a petrol car and although had good miles per gallon, that came at the expense of being somewhat underpowered, which, in the hilly terrain of Sardinia, was frustrating at times. (I had recently hired a Renault Megane Eco Diesel which was a brilliant car for performance and fuel consumption and the difference in driving experience was vast).

All in all though, the car performed perfectly adequately for a short trip- comfortable, roomy and good roadholding. Only let-down: the windscreen washer was dry!
