One of the biggest problems with renting a vehicle in the US is all the addtional add-ons that can make your initial estimated cost sometimes double if not quadruple. This is highly irritating. In this instance, your contract includes most of the necessary elements that one needs to rent a car and have peace of mind :
* Insurance ( - Collision Damage Waiver - Theft Protection - 3rd Party Liability - Supplementary Liability Insurance - Uninsured Motorist Protection )
* Local Taxes
* Airport Surcharge
* Premium location fee
* Homeland Security Fee
This is excellent!
However, I have a real problem with one element : I DO NOT want to be forced to pay for a full tank of gas! This is equivalent to a mild form of extortion! I want the option of bringing back the car with a full tank of gas, filled up by myself prior to returning the vehicle. Inevitably one ends up leaving up to a considerable amount of (paid-for) fuel in the tank. In this instance around a quarter of a tank which can be around $20 to $30!
Also, you should make much more visible the possibility that the rental companies can charge a huge additional fee for drop offs not made at the same location (last year I had a rental fee of $85 and a drop off fee of an additonal $350!!!) and that the rentor should contact the rental company directly to inquire about drop fees BEFORE confirming a rental.
