Let's get this straight, the car and service (provided via Europcar) was great. However, I had decided to be sensible and booked the full insurance cover via Nova.

It was a quick and efficient process and I received an email with full policy details and telling me not to accept any other cover at the car hire desk.

The catch being that Europcar wanted to charge me £1,200 (refundable) excess charge if I didn't take out their full insurance at the pick-up desk!! It was too late to do anything about it then, but Nova and their insurance partners had failed to make it obvious that I would be liable for the car hire companies excess and would need to claim it back from the Nova insurance after any damage. It is in the policy small print (7 A4 pages of small print) so they have you caught between being legally in the right but failing to mention it in the easy-to-use sales process. I ended up paying for full insurance twice because I haven't the finances to be £1,200 out of pocket until an insurance claim comes through - if I'd had an accident - which is surely why anyone buys full cover in the first place.

Felt totally ripped off by Nova, and as a result will not use them again or recommend them out of principle.
