Can't recommend you AVOID Marbesol enough!

The whole experience of Marbesol, Malaga airport was abominable. Firstly they are severely understaffed- expect to waiting at least an hour in their scruffy office/parking lot before you get the keys to your vehicle. After an hour and a half wait and numerous extra charges (insurance premium etc etc) we were given keys to a car different from that that we booked, ushered in the general direction of our car and told to check for scratches other than those shown on a very poor diagram. Customer service was terrible, no apology for such a long wait and rushed through signing t's&c's etc etc. The car looked dirty outside and in, an enormous amount of mileage on the clock and difficult to start the engine.

It wasn't until we were pulled over by the police and given a 200euro fine for the tax/mot which was over a year out of date that we realised just how bad the company was. The policeman told us the car was dangerous, and we have investigated to find this, as you would expect is 100% illegal and against all car hire policies. When we explained the fine to Marbesol on return of the car we were greeted by a lady, an extremely unhelpful not to mention very rude employee who was insistent the car wasn't dangerous, though we were told by the police that it was. The extra insurance premium we payed was void through Marbesol failing to tax the vehicle, yet we were met with complete disregard and rudeness, when we needed a sincere apology and full refund. We got neither.

We are certain we were told to return the car empty and that we had paid for the petrol. But on return we were forced to fill the tank at our own expense. I think Marbesol are deliberately rushing customers through the T's&c's so please beware. That said, you would be far far safer to use one of the many other car hire options in Malaga airport, than risk being given an illegal a d unroadworthy car from Marbesol.
