Unclean Car - disappointing

We have rented from Hertz in Mishawaka IN before, and were happy. Not this time. The person behind the counter was curt and snappy, leaving us feeling like we were putting her out for doing her job. The car had not been cleaned - previous renters left Coke (or Pepsi) sprayed all over the front passenger side (windshield, dashboard and door frame). So we had to take the time to clean it all up ourselves before going on our trip. The reservoir for windshield wiper fluid was bone-dry, so we had to add our own. One of the tires was low on air, which we had to fill. And the oil was over 6,000 miles past due for a change.

To add to our frustration, we were told that my wife couldn't help me drive on our trip unless we paid an extra $13.50 per day. And, if we wanted to "save money" we could pay for a full tank of gas up front and enjoy the "convenience" of dropping the car off empty. Sounds great, until you consider the fact that they don't give you the car with a full tank to begin with.

Sorry Hertz, won't be going with you again.
