Breakdown of charges not clear, one way charges not included in the price quoted, so it appeared cheaper than other car rentals in price comparison. The original rental agreement only had 'estimated charges', including refuelling of £138.59 for a corsa, or £3.08 per litre... £900 excess applicable, strongly used as a pressure point for buying additional insurance. Staff at Stanstead Airport miserable and unhelpful (never said sorry, kept me waiting for the supervisor and just tried hard to upsell). On return to EMA an equally miserable member of staff told me I could not get a receipt as nobody available to check the car in (which you would want after all the warnings such as 'even if not your fault'). No apology offered again. Tried to ring EMA today and check about lost property, nobody answered. Customer services too not easy to get hold of, eventually managed to speak to someone who was patronizing and did not really listen to what I had to say. Overall, my impression is that Hertz don't care about the customers at all, just how much can they get out of them. More interested in getting quick profit than making sure the customer will return. Bad tactic, as I for once would never rent from them again!
