I recently rented a car in Nice , France from Hertz. I drove to Italy for my Grandaughters baptism , which had been planned for months . The car broke down in Italy the morning of the Baptisim. I was 45 minutes from Florence and was forced to take a very expensive cab in to the city, and arrived late. The hotel was nice enough to organize the tow truck for the car nd was told by Hertz they would call me and bring me a new car. That never happened and I had to take another taxi from the church with all our luggage to Hertz to get a car.
I returned the car in Nice at the airport and the car needed a liter of gas which my friend and I tried to fill it at the airport station and it would not take gas. I explained the the woman at the Hertz that it would not take fuel. She told me to go inside and explain to the rental agent. There where 50 people in line and 2 people working, the week before it took a hour in line with 20 people. Unfortunately I didn't have 2 hours to wait in line .
My bill arrived and it more then 50 percent of the quoted price. I was charged over 100.00 dollars for them to go get the gas and 35.00 for a liter of gas.
I have written to Hertz USA and have received numerous computer generated letters from there Oklhamoa office. Stating they have reviewed the caim and don't owe me a credit. Not only did they incovience me they charged mr for the day I didn't have the car and the excess fuel charge is shameful. I will never rent from them again. They have NO CUSOMER SERVICE skills nor do they care.
