AVOID THIS PLACE FOR ANY COST!!!! They are specialists to find scratches that you didn't make are doesn't exist, and not only that the amount they are taking for the scratches you didn't make. And they are giving you car you didn't book.

“Extra insurance ”

Green Motion hook you with VERY cheap deals but then they trick you..! One of these tricks - as reported widely - is to fine you heavily for insignificant "damage" or even pre-existing "damage". Perhaps fortunately I didn't get that far because I never even got my car..! Their "office" - a tiny grubby room with unsmiling staff - is off-airport you have to go there by shuttle, so you are sort of held hostage should you not like their conditions. I was immediately hit with the very unusual condition (in the very small print) of ONLY CREDIT CARDS accepted. I only have debit cards but I have rented scores of cars all over the world in all 5 continents and have only ever used a debit card, so this was totally unexpected. When I told the unsmiling woman that I had rented from Green Motion Gatwick before (in 2015 apparently) she said "most rental companies no longer accept debit cards". And she gave me some absurd story about how so many people steal cars and take them to the continent, etc, etc. This was all rubbish and I soon found out why. In fact they DO accept debit cards but ONLY if you pay an extra £10-20 a day to "reduce the excess". I told her that I have a separate insurance which covers that, but she wouldn't budge. Being tired after a long day of travel I angrily agreed to pay the ransom but said "I'll be giving you a bad review". At that point she flat out refused to rent me the car and told me to leave the office. I'm sure she must have done this before to many other customers. I had to return to the airport and rent with one of the regular companies who have their bases there. There were NO problems with using a debit card with any of the companies I asked. The upshot is that I lost my £105 deposit paid to rentalcars.com. I have since heard that their staff get paid commission selling this "insurance" and she probably knew that she would also get a commission from my cancellation since Green motion got my money (via rentalcars.com) but I didn't get a car..!!!

I AM A MANAGER OF A CAR HIRE COMPANY IN CYPRUS AND RECENTLY BOOKED A CAR THROUGH RENTALCARS.COM WITH GREEN MOTION, FOR MY STAY IN THE UK. I RECEIVED THE BEST SERVICE EVER, WAS PICKED UP FROM THE PICK UP POINT WITHIN 5 MINS, FILLED IN ALL THE PAPERWORK ETC AND WAS ON MY WAY WITHIN 10MINS. THE PRICE WAS AMAZING, THE STAFF WERE SO FRIENDLY & HELPFUL AND THE REFUELING CHARGE WAS CHEAPER THAN IF I HAD FILLED THE CAR UP MYSELF. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.

Took €96 from my credit card 2 months after a rental, said it was for an admin fee on a ticket which was incorrectly issued and subsequently cancelled. Refused to refund money.

“Beware hidden costs and pushes for upgrades”

Be aware that the driver needs to have a credit card in their name or they will rip you off big time. My wife doesn't have a credit card but is the main driver. When collected car was told would need to pay £90 to use a debit card as lowering insurance premium. Would not accept my credit card to cover my wife. Only cheaper way was to add myself as an additional driver even though had no intention of driving to be able to use my credit card. Charged £50 for the privilege. My fault for not reading all the fine print. Also tried to sell me additional satnav which didn't want. When got in the car, there was an inbuilt satnav. Just intent on ripping off. Also went with Green Motion due to green credentials of being carbon neutral. So was disappointed to be given a diesel car.

“Green Motion Bristol”

On arriving at Bristol I was refused a car on the grounds that my debit card was not valid because it was a Visa Electron. On my booking voucher it clearly states that Meastro and Solo are not accepted but says nothing about Visa. I used the card to pay for the car on the internet. I have used this card to hire 3 cars last year, lastly in early December in Stansted. Great inconvenience caused. Reasons given totally ridiculous and now I find that the money is not being refunded. On consulting further, I am told that this is not acceptable as I did not cancel it. They could choose to refuse the car but not to keep the money. While waiting in their office, I saw them charge two people 15 pounds for a DVLC check when it clearly states that this should be 10 pounds. The second person spotted this luckily and they backed down but clearly not acceptable. I will be taking this further and would strongly recommend anyone to avoid Green Motion Bristol and/or be extremely careful about what you are being charged for. Very shoddy.

Same thing happened to us. Green Motion Bristol seem to be operating a variety of methods to extract as much money from people as possible. Lesson for all: AVOID Green Motion car hire at all costs.

“Cancellation policy”

A few weeks ago i hired a car with Green Motion through a company called Holiday autos.As it was a nice day i decided to walk the 8 miles to the airport.When i arrived i was told i needed 2 photo id's which i didn't have.Unwilling to make a 16 mile round trip i asked what the cancellation policy was.The lady said that there would be no charge as the rental would not be activated (her exact words). The next day i discovered Holiday autos were in fact taking the full amount £96.i rang Green Motion to say that since i was being charged i would take the car but they said no car was available.a quick check on both their and holiday autos websites showed this to be untrue. I complained to Holiday autos and they graciously gave me a £48 refund but took £48 'administration'fees. I wrote to Green Motion asking for an explanation but unsurprisingly they haven't replied.

“Prompt pick up from Bristol airport”

We were a a bit wary about renting a car from outside the airport but were reassured when a member of staff came to pick us up from the airport within ten minutes of calling them. I advise you to have their number handy. The two members of staff on duty when we picked the car up were very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded from a golf to a 7 seater Peugeot. Very nice car, a bit of litter under the seats in the boot. Nice to give the car back with as much petrol in it as it had at the beginning. The drop off was a little less pleasant. We dropped the car off with normal road dirt on it and were told that potential scratches or damage couldn't be seen. We could either take it to be washed (we don't usually leave time for this when we go to the airport!) or leave it and if they found damage they would charge it on the card. We have never had this with other hire companies. Maybe it should be noted that the car has to come back clean in the paperwork. In fact there was no damage but it is a bit worrying to set off on a plane not knowing. The member of staff who drove us to the airport was reassuring as at pickup.

I've rented several times from your Bristol airport office, and have always had excellent service. Transport from and to the airport has always been prompt and staff have been friendly and helpful at all times. Cars have been good. No problems whatsoever and really good value for money.

Hired a small car from Bristol Airport Mon-Fri 15-19th June Prompt pick up, speedy turnaround and polite service, on my way in no time Car was small, PUG 108, but had Blue tooth and top notch radio much cheaper than the standard Airport hire Co's Absolutely no complaints I'll be back

“Warning”

In the past five years I have rented vehicles 30+ times but my last rental with GreenMotion Bristol is the first occasion I have felt I have been duped. I was tempted away from the companies I usually use by GreenMotion's cheap prices. I was a bit put off by the fact that they are outside the airport but decided that the 'two minutes away from the terminal' was worth it for the rental savings. In the event the two minutes turned out to be a twenty five minute wait in the wind and rain before the GreenMotion shuttle transport arrived. I found the staff, whilst courteous, were neither welcoming or friendly preferring to answer the phone than deal with the customers in their waiting room. 30 minutes later I did eventually leave in a very nice Peugeot 308. On returning it a week later I was again met with disinterest as I sat in the waiting area whilst staff dealt with the phone or walked past until one eventually said someone will deal with you in a minute. It is the first time I have returned a car and not been asked if everthing went okay and was I happy with the vehicle. Eventually someone, without a word, took the keys off me and went outside. He returned a few minutes later and as he strode past me mumbled something something wheel something and went to a computer and spent several minutes searching. Then he came over to me with a credit card machine and asked me to put in my pin. I asked what this was for as the rental was pre-paid and he said for the damage to the wheel. What damage to the wheel? I asked him to show me. Sure enough there was a surface abrasion about 25mm x 4 mm on the rim of the alloy. Not a dent, a light scuff that could easily be removed with a bit of fine wet and dry and some polish. I had checked the car quite carefully, in particular the wheels before leaving for the airport and had missed it. I was charged £138 for the damage...almost double the cost of the weeks's rental. I don't dispute that there was a mark on the alloy but feel it should have been attributed to fair wear and tear. I suspect that this is their modus operandum, cheap rental to lure you and then screw you for each and every mark whereas with other rental companies damage has to be over a certain size before attracting a charge. Damage aside, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I won't be using them again.

Just to be clear. You checked the wheels carefully but when picking up but "missed it"..... sounds more likely you just didn't want to pay for the damage - nobody does, however if damage was not charged for they would very quickly be out of business. All GM cars are leased and at the end of the lease the suppliers come and check the cars and charge the location for ANY damage to their car. If you think GM are strict you should take into account the suppliers have no "wear and tear" policy - despite the cars been leased for a year!

To be clear. I checked the wheels before returning the vehicle, not picking up, but missed it because the damage was so small. I have excess insurance so am not bothered about paying for the cost. It was the combination of shoddy, ungracious service, no explanation as to why I was being asked for extra payment and the surly manner in which I was dealt with when I asked to be shown the damage that urged me to warn others. That and what I consider to be an excessive payment demand for the level of damage.
If you want to see red, go with Greenmotion.

Picked up hire car from bristol airport, as was visting friends & family over the weekend. Would prefer if a map was available to guide me to the pick up point as found it a bit difficult ringing the branch and getting instructions. Was given the option of a upgrade and explained the various insurance cover available. The staff member then gave me a overview of the various controls on the car, instead of being handed the keys and working it out yourself, that I have had from other car hire companies. Will be using the company again when I return to Bristol Airport

Used Green Motion many times before and as usual everything was easy and smoothly carried out. We only wanted a small car for me and the wife, and we were not disapointed. We had a Peugeot 108 which was immaculately presented and met our requirements exactly. The transfer was fast and easy adding to our overall satisfaction. As expats with family living in Bristol, we are frequent visitors to the area and we now go straight to the Green Motion web site as it's always cheaper and less unpredictable than using a general search engine. We like the fuel policy of return levels have to be the same as when collected - we've been ripped off, previously, by being charged extortionate prices for a full tank, even if we only intended to stay local and only use a small amount. We're over in March and won't be looking anywhere else for car hire

“Expect the Best”

Having tried many other Car Hire companies over my years in business, I was under the impression that they were all average. Many had let me down in the past and when I saw an advert for Green Motion I expected them to be the same, with double booking, poor customer service, second rate cars and hidden extras. Imagine my surprise when I found that Green Motion surpassed all my expectations by being far superior than any other company I had dealt with. Not only are the staff friendly and provide an excellent, efficient customer service, but there is a free shuttle taxi to and from the airport. The cars are always well presented and far cheaper than other companies. There are no hidden extras, or hard sell tactics, and for regular customers such as myself, there are very generous discounts on the already lower prices. I cannot thank the team at Bristol Green Motion enough for all their help over the last few years, and will continue to use this wonderful service. Ps I've tried to think of something I didn't like, and I can't !!!
