We turn up at Goldcar desk in Pisa to pick up a car booked online with economy car rental for 94 EURO. On the voucher from economy car rental all the basic cover were listed but the Goldcar operator said the Collision Damage Waiver listed in the voucher does not comply with their policy, moreover if you did not have the additional cover the road assistance and breakdown/recovery is completely the client responsibility, therefore we asked for just the additional cover and the total cost was 344EURO with an additional cost of 18EURO for refuelling service also if you return the car with the full tank. At this point we had enough and I decline to hire a car from them and walk to Sicily by car were we hired a car without pre-booking for less than 200 EURO inclusive of excess cover.
I will avoid Goldcar in the future!

Dear customer,

Please note that our basic coverage always contemplates an excess (please see our T&Cs). Additional insurance is offered for customers’ peace of mind and always as an alternative to blocking a deposit on a credit card. This is common practice in the rent-a-car sector. A special cleaning fee for vehicles due to the condition they were returned in is also specified in our T&Cs
