On 12 July (5 days after I returned my rental car) I received an invoice from Goldcar for a scrape on the front wing. The amount had already been debited from my credit card.
However, the damage occurred before I collected the car - I have timed and dated photographic evidence.
I have now sent 20 emails to Goldcar and all but one of them has been ignored. The one reply implied that as the damage was not on the check out form (signed by me and a Goldcar agent at the rental desk before seeing the vehicle) then the damage must have occurred during the rental period and therefore I was liable. They ignored the fact that their picture of the front wing scrape (taken between 7/7 and 12/7) and my timed photograph (taken at 21.33 on 20/6 - the car was signed out at 21.23 on 20/6) are identical.
It is worth mentioning that as no-one from Goldcar is there to sign a check in form on return then you are liable for any damage from returning the car until Goldcar check the car themselves - whenever that might be!
Having used Goldcar on numerous occasions over the last 10 years with no complaints I feel extremely disappointed with their attitude "post rental".
The saga continues ........................
