When booking a car for my one-week holiday in Fuerteventura, Spain, I came across Economy Car rentals which seemed less expensive than other companies. When I arrived at Goldcar rental desk, there was a queue to get my car for more than an hour. All customers seemed unsatisfied until I got my turn and I understood why. Although I had chosen full insurance package I was asked to pay extra 109 Euros for the insurance (because car provided insisted that I had no insurance at all).
Besides, I was asked to pay extra deposit for the fuel which was 89 Euros. The car provider promised to return this amount of money immediately after getting full car back. Although I returned the car full they refunded only 61 Euro. So, instead of promised rental amount of 87.93 Euro I had to pay 285.93 Euro although they advertise booking without hidden charges.
What would I have liked to know before my booking is fair and clear information about all charges that turned out hidden.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us at our office in Fuerteventura was not as expected. We are trying to solve the waiting time issue by opening auxiliary offices.

Please note that our basic coverage has a series of exclusions (please see our T&Cs). If customers have third party coverage, they can request a refund from them in case of damages. Additional insurance is offered for customers’ peace of mind and always as an alternative to blocking a deposit on a credit card (unblocked 15-20 days later if the vehicle is returned in the same condition).

Please allow me to explain our Flex Fuel policy: customers pre-purchase a full tank and receive a refund for unused fuel, minus a handling and administration fee; this is explained during the booking process through Economy Car Rentals. A Full to Full plan is also offered and explained during the booking process on our website.
