Well I have being going to Spain for two years now and use gold car.
With anything you HAVE to read the small print and its the same with anything unless you are going to pay lots more money for a car then go with Avis or larger companies but I'm sure we all must know in the back of our heads there making money so you have to do your research.
I am always aware of the price I book at and happy that I can pay on arrival so I can save up and then I am always are of the extras, being fuel which is usually around €70 which is a bloody lot, espcially for smaller cars but I get it and then I used to pay a young driver age charge which I knew about so there was no nasty surprises.
You just have to read all the T&C's and you will understand what you are getting.
I am more than happy with them just wish they would get some more Smart Cars back on the fleet.

1. Why do they charge 80 euros for a tank full of petrol for a ford fiesta, which only has a 45 litre tank?
2. Why do they get you to pay for by card and then charge you in pound sterling at an extremely poor exchange rate - only to put on the form that you sign (afterwards) that you requested to pay in pounds instead of euros.
3. Why is the insurance you pay inadequate and then why does the cost of suitable insurance cost MORE than the car hire itself?
