Booked a car online with europcar, as their 'special mobile quote' was slightly less than their competitors. That was also 3 months before our holiday. When i went to pick up the car, i was told that the rate booked (and paid in full 3 months in advance) did not cover any form of insurance. So i still had to purchase insurance from the same europcar (as they do not accept third party insurance and driving a car without insurance is illegal). The cheapest insurance cover was 20gbp daily! And that was with a 1000gbp excess! I had paid 550gbp for 15 days (which included one way fee and child seat). I ended up paying 850gbp! This works out to a daily rate of 57gbp for a standard saloon! What a rip off! Unfortunately i was late and my child was sick, so i couldn't make alternative arrangements. An excellent start to our holiday! Out of curiosity i went through the booking process again, and never was i asked to include insurance, or specified that the quote does not include any form of insurance! On the contrary
, T&Cs attached to my confirmation indicate in bold and underlined:"Please note that all our Excess Reduction Products are optional. You do not have to take any of them under the terms of this agreement".
