I can’t stress strongly enough how I will never never never ever, under any circumstance use Europcar. If they are the only hire company available in the world, I would buy a new car and abandon it at the end of my holiday, it would be cheaper and less hassle than the charges Europcar take without justification. If you don’t want to buy a new car, get some roller stakes or crawl across the dessert for a week without food or water, all are better options and less stress than using Europcar.
When I collected the vehicle I reported damage to a member of Europcar staff who noted this on my hire agreement.
When I returned the vehicle, the Europcar employee checked it against my hire agreement with the damage noted. He confirmed there was no problem.
Europcar have since taken more than €800 for damage. I have contacted them multiple times, and it has been over a month since I provided the proof of the inspection from their staff and I have not had so much as a reply let alone the refund. I have chased on two occasions with no success.
Through Twitter I had been told my claim was escalated to CS Upper Management and I would get a response in 3 days, two weeks later and I’m still waiting. Perhaps CS stands for ‘Currently Sleeping’, ‘Couldn’t give a Shxt’ or ‘Customers are 4 Screwing’. It doesn’t matter what they are called, they haven’t done anything.
I’m still without the money they have taken from me and feel I am victim of action carried out by an international company that operate like this the world over judging by reviews I have since read.
